Just a few questions about Avalaunch...

a) Why is "Edit XBE Title" in the start menu for the menus, but it doesn't work? Is this unimplemented still, or am I doing something wrong?

B) I can get my box to connect to the Internet by changing my networking options to DHCP, but this eliminates the handy static IP. Does anyone know of a surefire way to connect to the Internet with my box but keep a permanent IP address for ftp'ing to my box?

BTW, I love the online features. Nice job.

Dunno about the Edit XBE Title bit, but as for static IP working...

I have mine set to static, and have no problems connecting to the internet. I am not sure why it doesn't just work for you. Are you going through a router, to share the internet?
Valdek
I'm using a PPPoE connection through a DSL modem, with ICS on XP Professional.

make sure ya have dns set correctly and if all else fails, use ICS cuz its the easiest and quickest way to get xbox with static and net connection too

Blah, double posted on accident.

I'm using ICS... and I set the DNS to match those in ipconfig /all (as suggested by another topic), and it still doesn't work. Can't I have a static IP *and* internet connectivity?

Also, NO ONE knows why I can't use "Edit XBE Title"?

You can edit the XBE titles from the file manager. The one in the menu isn't implemented yet. If you'd read the manual you would KNOW this stuff.

Thanks very much... sorry about not reading over the manual again...

Is the method of connecting to the Internet w/ a static IP highlighted in the manual, as well?

Thanks.

I have not ever used ICS before, but I would think it would be easy to get the Xbox up with a static IP.

Are you using 2 NICs? If not, then I am not sure what you would do, but if so...

Set the IP on one of the NICs to work with the internet settings.
Set the other one's (that the Xbox is plugged to) IP to 192.168.1.1
Set the Xbox up as:
IP = 192.168.1.2
Subnet = 255.255.255
Gateway = 192.168.1.1
DNS = same as PC

or...

Get a router and make life easy. smile.gif
