I've extracted the iso to my xbox hdd, the game is PAL and my xbox is also PAL.
I run the game and it just hangs on the FIFA 2004 splash screen.
Any ideas why? All my other games work fine, this is the first time I've encountered an error like this :x

Last time I checked you are allowed to talk about backing games up to your hdd.
Now if you are 'assuming' they are talking about something they downloaded, that would not be a polite thing to do.
How did you copy the games over. Might need to copy them again with a different program.

If you are directly backing up games to your hdd then you don't need to go through the iso routine : just wake the game in the slot and titlize the controls and watch HDDLoader do it's job ...
Could be that Fifa 2004 has a seriouse problem or not ... we shall see when it's actualy released in my town .

Check if the xbox clock is showing the right time, might sound strange but I read on another board that someone fixed the same problem by setting the clock right.

Who said I was doing anything illegal? My XBOX DVDROM is broken, maybe I should of made myself a bit more clear.
Glad to know I'm not the only one with the problem then, I spent a good 40 mins trying different ways to run the game - shout if anyone figures it out, ta

Thanks, it worked.
My clock was already set, but what I did after you suggested this, was left me xbox off all night (unplugged) turned me X2 Pro off, so my initial boot was to MS Dash, set my clock and made sure it was still PAL60.
Switched off, re-enabled my chip, booted up and ran FIFA 2004 no problems.
Cheers for your help
BTW its a class game, far better than '03 :}

I've got the same problem. When I get home I'll try your suggestions. I had a similar problem with Club Football PAL - but it worked when I did the media fix with a hex editor.
I'm a bit worried as I can't turn off my chip - it's an Enigmah. I'll give it a shot though.
Come to think of it, recently, none of my originals and backups work unless I click "Startup DVD" in the EvoX menu (which is basically calling the default.xbe on the CD) - they used to boot normally.
Perhaps I need unplug my xbox - I'll look into it.

i did speak too soon, 2004 is cool, jus takes a while to get used to... throw-ins still suck if your on "your side" of the pitch (as i can never see my guys and the other teams, im impatient you see and throw right away...)

just a quick note u will have 2 set the time and date in ms dash to get the game 2 work then u can copy the game 2 the hard drive and then the default.xbe file will be there
then just ftp it and use craxton to patch it ftp back

Games inserted in the DVD tray might not be running until you run the default.xbe from any file manager because the "Auto Launch Games" option is off. Check it out in the Settings / info submenu found in Evox.

Enjoy... Nice footy game!

Ive heard EA scrapped the speed setting from the Xbox version, which is bad news as I always played on the fastest option.

Don't understand why you lot are manually applying the media patches when dvd2xbox can do it for you. I use dvd2xbox to copy over my games and it works great.

Hi guy's sorry for sounding so stupid but i'm new to this. I have to back all my games up to the HDD so my little kids don't get their mucky hands all over them. In the past all i have done is copied them using boxplorer but this hasn't worked with Fifa 2004. I have set the time and pal 60 option but when i try to load it from hdd it just returns to the evolution x screen. (Works if the disc is in the try though). Is there another way i should go about dobacking up my games and if so where can i get the utilities.
Please don't trash me over this and any help greatfully recievd.

Guys i found the solution why Fifa 2004 won't load. Trust me, its not the IGR or the time/date settings. Just backup the game on a dvd and then insert the dvd in the xbox, dont try to load the game. First open BoXplorer and copy all the contents of the dvd into the games folder in a root called fifa 2004. After finishing use boxplorer again and find the folder of the game and run default.xbe. Thats it...You are in the game

How does backing the game up to dvd first alter the copying to the xbox. I have done this with the original and it does not load.

I had this same problem, and it only happened after i had unplugged my xbox for a few hours, which would suggest its this clock problem. But oddly Enough In the process of trying to figuure what the hell was going on, i reloaded the game from my pc to xbox again and it worked fine, very odd.
Does evox connect to any nntp servers to set time?
I believe i read that Tiger Woods can be a bitch to get going and even the original discs have problems, maybe its somthing to do with the extra money etc if you own other ea games.

I have the same problem with fifa 2004,i have tried all the above fixes but none work for me

My backup works ok off the dvd and i have copied it to my brothers xbox ( installed on his standard hard drive ) and its fine but when i try and put it my 120 gig h/d i encounter the lock ups.
i have tried pxloader 1.2 and dvd2xbox 04_8 but neither work
The log from dvd2xbox reads as follows
files copied 800
failed to copy 1
files re-named 0
files with media check 1 1
files with media chack 2 (long string) 0
files with media check 2 (short string ) 1
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated

One thing that came across my mind is: is your HDDs locked? Maybe theres a new protection which requires your HDD to be locked for it to run?

With the evox dashboard you need to make sure the time is set. Look at the sntp entry in the settings. Use a valid sntp server. You can find one appropriate for you at
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.html.
Once I did this, FIFA from the HDD worked like a champ.

I also had this problem, and YESS I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BECAUSE I SUPPORT EA GAMES IN MAKING FOTBALL GAMES better and better... It hangs, I modded my box to day, Avalaunch, with executer2. The Fifa splash screen comes up, but nothing happens after that... I will try the 60 hz thingy and setting the clock, so we will se...

It's no cool to modd the box if it does not work on newer games is it? Hope I haven't made the wrong choise with modding it...
