So I finally got around to buying Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. And seeing how hard I am on discs, I decided to back up the gae to HDD. My problem is that I cant seem to copy disc1_8.dat . I have seen a few posts saying people were having the same problems, and even how to fix it on PAL. Any ideas what to do on NTSC?

For the record, I did search, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Try not to flame too bad.

Give us some more info. What are you using to copy it? What drive do you have?

I have the Philips DVD Drive, with a 160 gig maxtor HDD.

I have tried ripping with both boXplorer and PX HDD Loader ver 1.2a.

I also recently purchased this game and used dvd2xbox v.0.4.8 to copy it to my hard drive without any issues.

I have tried versions 0.4.8 as well as 0.4.9, any other ideas?

I know that 2 of the files (disc1_8.dat, and disc2_1.dat) have copy protection. I just cant find anything to bypass it. The rest of the files appear to copy fine.

What do you mean by copy protection ? Where did you get the info ?
Is there anything else what you could tell us about ?
Or is it only a bad disc ?
