tested good:

verbatim dvd-r
princo dvd-rw
apple dvd-r
memorex dvd-r
BenJeremy
Princo DVD-Rs.

I wouldn't count on DVD-RWs form Princo (hit or miss), but the -Rs work great.
Xeero
Of course, much of this will be dependant on the DVD-ROM, not the version of the mainboard.
HiTek
what websites sell the princos? i ordered a 10 pack of princos but no of em worked. i dont think they sent me the princos cuz i used them before and they worked great. also what speed are these disks?

Xeero,

What about the DVD-Rom?
Maybe that explains why all my games work on 3 different Xbox's but for some reason certains games won't work on my friends' Xbox.
I recall that it looked different when I chipped it. Different than the other 3 Xbox's that I previously chipped.

I've been having a horrible time with Princo DVD-RW's.
It's like BenJeremy said, it's a hit or miss with Princo.
Some of my backups work but most of the time they don't.
And I can assure that I've closely following ever burning procedure.

Ritek Silver Top with Deep Purple bottom burnt at hacked 2x on A04 burner works great!

Laser Branded white top light purple are crap. Dont ever touch them. If you have a PS2, these disks will constantly give you coasters.

Verbatim DVD-R are great as well.

HSDEMONZ, How did the Samsung disc work for you? I made this post asking about them but only got one reply.

I haven't had good luck with DVDPro disc. ADVDInfo says they were TDKG01's. A friend of mine ordered some to test but hasn't got them yet. So any info you can give me would be a great help.

I am buying a pionerer A05 dvd burner this week for 286 $. And i was going to go for a 2x speed disk that is compatible for most dvd players. After reading the posts above i was thinking of trying th ritek "gold series" that are 2x stable with pioneer dvd burners. Has any one tried these yet? you can get them @ http://www.meritline.com/dvdrblankmedia.html

at .88 cents a piece

just to clear this up the princo dvd-r 's are 1x speed right?

im looking only for 2x speeds biggrin.gif

I couldn't get those Riteks to work at 2x for me. They'd burn at 2x, but both the xbox game and a disc of MP3s wouldn't read, burning at 1x was fine though. I burned Verbatims at 2x with no problems. Just bought some generic 1x stuff from hypermicro.com that I've used before, they work fine too. Hyper has some good prices.

Wong Hung Lo... Sorry.. I missed your question earlier...

The Samsung are fine.. but pricey for me.

Of all the brand I tested.. I had the same performance with all of them. So I prefer to use the CHEAPEST! (PRINCO)

I find that most people with problems, are either burning too fast, burning with a Sony or HP, or are running apps or Web surfing in the background! I know that all of the DVD burners have variations of BURN PRROF TECH in them.. but thiers isn't mature yet.

I burn most everything for XBOX at 1X, and close all un-needed apps, and let the machine run dedicated!

Question for anyone who might know the answer, how do "Dabsvalue" DVD-Rs work out for booting in an Xbox? (Also, how do they boot with a PS2 if anyone has tried). They're quite cheap here in the UK (~£90 for 100, which for the UK is quite good cos I can't find anywhere that sell good DVD-Rs cheap sad.gif ).

Speaking of which, has anyone found any good places to get DVD-Rs for in the UK? tongue.gif
