Well let's say I have the friend who let's say is mildly retarded and has no clue how to up a game to his box...I just thought would be cool if I could FTP into his box over net and use the load iso feature to do it for him.
Ripping a game from someone else's box to your PC works fine though, just can't Load ISO to his xbox..soon as it sees ava it goes into boost......never thought to try it with evox, but then I don't think Qwix works with other dash's does it?
(You may be thinking ...well if he can set up FTP to Xbox for me he can't be all that retarded..well it was me at his house setting it up so I could get in...)

* avalaunch.xml editor
* option to add "(REGION)" after game names. makes it easier for me to know when to use videomode switcher (which would be nice to have built into avalaunch)
* function to "clean" games to regain hdd space. remove not needed stuff, like the demos part which is on some games.
That's it for now. Thanks for some cool software. Life just got easier

I don't know if this would be difficult or not, but the ability to transfer my avi's and mp3's through Qwix would be awsome. I like the interface and the Games Manager, but a Software and Multimedia Manager would be sweet too.. just a though..
This program will make me an Avalaunch user.. Great work.. Actually.. it's awsome..
Thanks..

I have tried out Qwix now and is very nice, BUT i miss a feature a lot that is included in "XBOX ISO Transfer 1.0"
and that is the function to extract ISO from RAR and then transfer. Most of the ISOs is stored in RAR format to save space
and I then have to manually extract the ISO to be able to transfer it to the box with Qwix.
With XIT I can just select the RAR-file and it will extract/transfer in one go without further handling.
Due to this missing feature, I rather stick to XIT. But if it is included, I will most probably make Qwix my main
software for handling the XBOX.
Best regards

I must agree with the xtract ISO from RAR. I would like to keep my apps I use to a minimum. But for now I will be switching between XBOX ISO Transfer 1.0 and Qwix.
Keep up the GREAT work.

Arbitrarily uploading whatever files through boost mode..
It'd be nice to be able to transfer a buttload of roms of mp3s, or an iso thats already extracted, whatever..

Some kind of tsr or service running on the server pc would be sweet. Then I can initiate iso creation / extraction from avalaunch file manager itself. Hit the start button on a folder; have an option much like Add to queue - "Create / Extract ISO" Settings for pc configurable in avalaunch.xml.
I'm sure you can see the obvious problem - I'm lazy and I have to get up to touch the PC.

it's already been said and ill say it again rar support.. i only use XBOX ISO Transfer 1.0 cuz it has great rar support and nice speeds... if qwix had rar support id undoubtedly start using this instead. i think the xml ediotr would be an easy enough nice feature too.... great work on this app.

Indeed rar support is a great idea i think, also the ability to upload any kind of file and not just iso's would be great, this boost mode makes a big difference to file transfers over my network.

Change the clock icon to correspond with file activity,, eg. make the clock hands turn while transferring,
or just change it to a permanant 4:20

Some requests:
- Please add an option to create a new folder when extracting an ISO.
- Display the tool used for the creation of ISO files (not only for Qwix, but also for other ISO creators if it is possible)
- Add an option to create MenuX multigame-discs (using MXM as default.xbe)
- Add the possibility to transfer folders/files

anomousny,
I really don't think that MXM will be our choice for multi disk creation... It will be avalaunch as the multi disk creation. Since this app was developed by a Avalaunch Team member.

If you are going to use avalaunch, I would recommend some changes:
- Fix the problem causing crashes when starting games/apps (led turns and stays red)
- Add an option to turn on antialiasing for the fonts
- Add an option to turn off version information, load display, IP and time
- Turn off all the extra featues (FTP, News, Pic of the Day, etc.) by default for multidisk menus

Add the abiliity for Qwix to send a "site shutdown" FTP command to AVA after the ISO(s) are sent to the XBox.
Just add a checkbox on the ISO/job transfer status screen saying something like "Shutdown XBox after completion. Line up a bunch of ISO's to transfer and go to bed. Qwix will shut it down when its done.
Also it would help out in some situations if Qwix could send a command to AVA to either have it reboot or refresh the games listing when its finished sending the ISO's to the XBox.

This request might be a little out there but I'll throw it in the mix anyways. If your planning on making it a full FTP client anyways it would be nice if I could go directly from xbins with a file to my xbox HD. Say I wanted to get the new xsnes9x emu. I would go thru the normal mIRC step but rather than opening up FlashFXP or Cute I'd open Qwix. Select the file for download and it would download the rar to my PC's HD in the first step. Next it would uncompress the rar and put it in the selected directory on my xbox's HD. Granted the rar file structure would have to be setup properly so as not to have a file in a file named the same .ie. xsnes9x\xsnes9x\default.xbe wouldn't show up good in many auto add menu's.
Is this even feasable or am I just thinking outta my ass?

That's what Qwix is now. See this is the part of the forum where users throw ideas about features they would like to see implemented in the program. Devenic already said he plans on making it transfer other files not just iso's. I'd also like to be able to access xbins and other FTP servers as well. uncompressing rar and zip on the fly would just be gravy.

Nov 30 2003, 11:22 PM
I would love it if Qwix could patch a full ISO on the fly, it has the XBE patcher, but to not extract would be very nice. I would like to move altogether from Craxion, since the new version crashes on me half the time when I try to patch an ISO.
I know it will patch the .xbe when it uploads, but it would be a beautiful thing if I could patch the iso without uploading.
thx for the great app.. makes life so much easier!

these would be great. In next qwix it would be great if u add multigame disk tool and the iso with more than one game can be creat on the fly from the xbox hd.you could add suport for queue tasks ex I queue these tasks
1-creat an multigame iso with ex F:/Games/Soul Calibur 2 and F:/Games/THPS4
2-creat another multigame iso with another games
3-creat another multigame iso with another games
4-shutdown xbox and pc
If Quix could do this it would be GREAT,I queue this tasks them go to bed and when I wake up the isos are created and my pc and my xbox are turned off

Making it a full features FTP app may be going a little far. Right now QWIX is cool becuase of its functionality and ease of use. If you start adding things that the "average" xbox newb can't handle, you'll end up with a lot of "problems". (read: idiots don't take the time to figure out what theyre doing before they try to do it, then complain when it doesn't work).
Granted, I like the idea of being able to access XBINS directly from QWIX, then choose to download and install directly to the XBOX, no need to store the file on my HD, extract it, then upload it.
However this could ultimately lead to a reliance on XBINS; if they were ever to be shut down, for whatever reason, that reliance could prove troublesome. I have proposed previously in the Avalaunce suggestions thread a solution that I feel could aleviate any potential problems like that. I have thought a great deal about it, and I honestly think the following "solution" would be in the best interests of the entire community.
Develop a decentralized file sharing system using principles similar to what torrent/overnet/freenet uses, however with one major difference. The files available for download are released/controlled by their authors. A validation key system could be implemented allowing authors to make files available on the network, maintaining their own directories with the latest versions and older versions for compatability/archival. End users will be given a simplified, structured interface that allows them to "browse" to the file they want installed (maybe a directory structure, just keep it simple to find the latest version of the exact file they are looking for). The file/s, once selected would then be downloaded from multiple sources and, depending on if support via the dash was there, auto-installed. End users could only "share" file/s they have previously downloaded, this would prevent users from contaminating the shared files with (porn, games, fakes, virii, other bs you find on other file sharing networks). Basically, what I'm getting at is "censored, protected file sharing". Bandwidth "shouldn't" be an issue due to the lack of unneeded network trafic and oversized files.
The only "real" problem I foresee with this situation is "who" determines "who" is a legitimate author making legitimate apps. I think the community as a whole could police people releasing crap by simply not downloading it, but how do you prevent someone from releasing unneeded content on the network without at least some kind of predetermined panel of trusted administrators handing out the "author" keys. Granted, I don't see how that would be much different then what XBINS does now. They ultimately choose what content does/doesn't get on their server.
Anyway, there are a few "kinks'" that could use working out, but otherwise I think its a pretty solid concept.

batch mode for creating iso's....I'm really lazy!
when creating iso's from xbox's d:(dvd/orig game) autoname the .iso file wiht the name of the game from the .xbe
(did I mention I was lazy :-)
Figure out why iso creation of games from directly from the xbox d:(dvd/orig game) takes for freaking ever!...(did I mention I'm also impatient :-)
and on the above point, games like Enter the matrix can go all night, only getting to 24%, then socket erroring out...
I wouldn't be opposed to some e: folder handling for applications also...
The thing I like about qwix is it's speed optimizations....I want all the bandwidth available, to be allocated for pc iso ->xbox, or xbox -> pc iso...and the resulting iso to be 100% all the time guaranteed to work...
I just want to add, that qwix is awesome!....by far the best app so far, get the rar support, and the other things I've mentioned...and man, what an app :-)

As mentioned before, ablility to shutdown/restart xbox xbox when finished.. maybe even option to turn off PC when done.
And the transfer "whatever-file" function would be great
And if thats implemented, then why not add support for auto-renaming files to XFS format at the same time. (Basically for transferring mp3:s)
That would really be great to have when transferring lotsa files w long filenames.
Sidenote. My ava hangs after transferring ~10 long filenames in FlashFxp. Never had prob w Qwix Iso transferring though...

Multigame support is a must! I use qwix all the time since it's the best program to create isos in my opinion, the user interface is the most straight forward and easiest of all iso programs out there...
however, before I build an iso I have to mess w/mxm. I'm running Morden's Audio Hack V3 and since he's switched to MXM i've become addicted to the video features. Making multigame disks right now is tedious - an option to calculate which games you could fit on a disk would be nice too - there are some freeware tools out that will calculate how you can split up folders. I used them to figure out how to backup 35GB of MP3s onto CDRs(most cds ended up almost completely full).
I don't know how feasible it would be to have an option to combine ISOs to accomplish the task. Also I don't know if there's any ill will between the Avalaunch team and Ben from MXM, but CDX could be used as an alternative instead or maybe an Avalaunch lite could be used on the multigame disks.

CRC checking during "Create ISO from ftp" when using Avalaunch.
This would be the end-all-feature in my book. All the suggestions I've read are awesome, especially multi-disk mode (mxm)! I do sometime use Craxtion just for that!
However, I create my backups by ftp'ing directly from the D: and I have to test them because sometimes they don't work and I have to redo them. Seemingly copying to the harddisk then ftping is always reliable, but I have the original 8 gb drive and it fills quickly. Since you've got the software on both sides - when avalaunch and qwix are talking - avalaunch should do a crc and send it to qwix, which would then check it's recieved file and reget it if there is a problem. I think this would be a killer feature - I know I'd love it, and it shouldn't be too hard to implement using simple .crc files and a naming convention. If people don't want to add the tiny amount of time for it, it could be a checkbox option.
Your software rocks! Thank you!!!

Automatic deletion of unwanted common file. You know which one i'm talking about, dashupdate.xbe, the damn Xdemos folder which sometimes get as big as 1.5Gig. or just give an approximative size of an iso without the files in it, it would help for those who makes multi game DVD

The onething at the moemnt i'd like to see in qwix which isn't there- is the ability to read the xbox dvd-r backups from the pc's dvdrom drive like you can with xiso 115, the author of that prog has released the source as he's not gonna be supporting it anymore- was wondering whther it would be possible to lift that from his source possibly?
Devenic
Feb 8 2004, 03:07 PM
Actually, there's no need to lift anyone's source. I've already added the DVD PC backup reading feature into Qwix, so it will appear in the next public release, whenever that happens. No timeframe for that yet.
