Well it seems that bad seeds have a way of floating to the surface. One of the former OPs of the official #slaYers irc channel located on snoop.burghcom.com is trying to blackmail us for loosing his priviledges. He has opened up a fake clone of our channel on a different server. His handle is "Scotsman" and after driving away the great SS113, it makes us all sad to see such childish behaviour repeated.

Please remember that there is currently only ONE OFFICIAL #SLAYERS IRC CHANNEL, on the great "snoop.burghcom.com" servers. If you go anywhere else you do it at your own risk not to mention getting sucked into a petty personal ego trip & politics.

It has come to my attention that some pathetic individuals have turned my installer into a Trojan. It is truly disgusting to see people behave this way instead of applying their skills to help others in the scene.

To combat this, I am releasing here both the MD5 Hash Key and the CRC32 checksum for the real installer.

Please keep in mind that the real installer should idealy be obtained from the official IRC channel listed bellow.

You can get it anywhere outside of the #slayers channel, but you take a chance. If you do get it somewhere else, use the information below to verify it's an authentic release.

11/20/03 - NEWSFLASH:

90% of all problems posted here relate to the classic "DVD Drive did not read Media properly" This is due to the lack of error checking on the xbox and the fact that the xbox DVD drives are so picky about media.

You must burn the installer ISO to a "virgin" CD-RW at 1x or 4x with verify on, but sometimes even that is not enough depending on how stubborn your xbox DVD Drive is.

You can try to burn at 1x to a DVD-R with verify or temporarily swap in a PC DVD drive to read the CD-RW or even CD media.

Lastly, try different burning software for the ISO if Nero does not work for you.

The other 10% of all problems stem from people having old mod chips or old bioses. Since the installer has all the latest tools that expect a new bios, you MUST update your Mod Chip/BIOS to either one from the selection included on the Installer.
I strongly recommend the X2 4977 *FC* (read the docs to learn more)

Still can't get my Samsung 1604 (160GB) drive to access G-partiton. It seems to be stuck at the 137GB-limit, with 129GB free on the F-partition and showing 0 on G-parition.

I used the Slayer Installer to rebuild my HD, and flashed with M7-bios (ej 137+) from Slayer.

What can I have forgotten?

I guess it should be pointed out that the PDF encryption has been cracked. The case made all sorts of news because the guy was Russian, but was held in the US on violation of the DMCA etc. Anyway, programs that remove the encryption etc. are all over the net.

I wonder if this will help the people in the same position as me. I have one of the first generation of modchips that ever came out (an xtender, identified as 'homebrew 0x90). Until now, - I'm told - I have been unable to install a hard drive different to the one already in there.

Does anyone know if this tool will assist given the age of the chip?
If so, what option will do the job?

uh, just to let you know what the actual problem is.....
You cant put in another hard drive b/c your bios will not boot with an unlocked drive. This "app" burned onto a cd is the evox dashboard with a long ass .ini that copies files to the hard drive. So logic would tell you that if you couldnt boot a new drive and evox 18 months ago, you still cant today, nothing on your xbox has changed. You might want to look in the exploit forums about locking the drive before putting it in the xbox, and using the Phoenix Bios Loader to load a more recent bios. (this loads it AFTER the xbox boots (AFTER the xbox checks to see if it is locked), so no, you still cant run "slayers" with an unlocked drive.

the Evox scripting does not allow for anything "on-boot", yes, you need to select it from the menu.

don't wish to sound too much of a NooB, though I have over 10 years of internet experience, though I don't have a lot of experience with IRC.

I can connect to Xbins using Mirc but no matter how much I try I cannot connect to the server that Slayer mentions in his initial post.

Any chance anyone can help me out with some simple instructions how I can connect to the server so I can download version 2.5.

I found out the same thing.I needed to upgrade to Adobe Reader 6.0 because Acrobat Reader 5.1 wouldn't work for me. Then no problems. Thanks Slayer all Up and running on this 1.3 version With X2 Pro except for the new Evox (3921) Will keep trying though. As again Your the Man

Evox/Slayers can be used for REFLASHING. Your initial flash must be made with the FlashBIOS.

And all recent bios are included on the slayers disc.

Simply start an IRC connection, then in the main window, type.

/server snoop.burghcom.com

Then, once connected, type:

/j #SlaYerS

And then, in the room window,

!installer

If you get an identd problem, make sure your router doesn't block that port (I beleive it's 113), and then forward it to your computer.

Slayer's is the BEST auto-installer hand's down.
Only part I didn't like about 2.1 was the huge readme and instructions...took about 2 days to read through all of it and about 2 minutes to actually install.

All the questions so far are covered in the docs, Get Adobe PDF 6.0 reader (free from Adobe) and read them.

If we can spend months coding and creating comprehensive docs, there is no excuse for anyone not to take 10 minutes and read them.

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but nero is refusing to let me burn it onto a DVD-R.... it says the compilation requires a CDR/RW... I took off the media check, but it still does it.... any ideas?

Forget that I posted that.... it was an ID-10T error... it was just a little drop-down to change it to DVD....

Has anyone tried using this installer with the gamesave exploit? as far as I know it should work... and then make your install permanent...

noone on irc seems to be of help, so i need some help from you guys. I just got a 160GB hd and slayer's 2.5. I flashed my x2 pro with 4977 +127GB bios that supports FC booting. When I select 3-1 or 3-2, which is format and install evox for a new large hd, it shows that its installing files, and what each file is, but when i reboot, it gives me error 13 (no dashbboard found). when i fire up the disc again, i ftp to my xbox and all i see is the standard folders in c, but no files at all, no xbes or anything, just empty folders. anyone else having this prob? any solutions?

It's amazing how some people think that they are entitled to absolute attention, help and support. Getting someone else's hard work for free is not enough that you must demand to be helped?

The tool was just released today, no one has had a chance to really explore it fully and understand it and you complain about lack of help.

I guess me and my team spending 400+ hours to make and test this and write docs was not enought for you?

Ask your questions nicely, be patient and read the docs, the answers will come.

BTW, your problem is your media, use a new, fresh CD-RW or a DVD-R and you'll be fine.

i downloaded slayers auto installer and i use xbox live and was wandering if there was a way i could install slayer on a larger harddrive and still have my xbox live account and saves and my songs transferrred over by ftp or something like that. im a noob so any help would be appreciated.
