The ability to change your XBox's video mode between PAL and NTSC would be a nice feature.

This would avoid jerky videos when a NTSC Game is playing on a PAL Xbox

In fact, it would be much simple to implement an EPPROM switcher (PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL) in the dashboard.

The best would be an automatic one that would switch the xbox in the mode wanted according to the game inserted ou played from HD.

Yupp, that would be useful imo. So that you could assign a region to certain games on your HD and that nexgen switches the mode automagically.

No, it's a bad idea to mess with the EEPROM just to switch video modes. MXM did this, and it hosed (thankfully, not permanently) several systems.

MXM now implements a temporary BIOS patch to switch the video mode and region, as well, individually for each game, if set.

XdashOS is welcome, as usual, to grab the code, developed by the BIOS hacking virtuoso Cherry of these forums. It's "CherryPatch.cpp" in the MXM source.

If I recall correctly, Cherry shared the code with the team shortly after evox included a video mode feature in their dash, and it will be included in this dash as well.

the Avalaunch dashboard already does this feature.

Ben Jeremy do you know if Ava does the bios thing too? cause ive never had problems with changing with that or M-X-M (even though my friends x-box was hosed by it bizzare as it works fine with me and my friend has exactly the same vers xbox mxm software chip and harddrive)

When you intend Bios patching, does it means bios swaping all the time ? (Find the patch, apply the patch,flash bios, reboot and finally play )...

a few additional words about the MXM option to swap region game are welcome (does it autodetect game region ?, does it nead manual configuration for each game ?, ...)

I think that it's easier to include that in dashboard than bios swaping all the time. Last version of Evox (Evox build 3935) is able to handle such an option and is 100% working and stable .

P.S.: I encourage you to test the feature "Gameregion/video mode switch" in Evox build 3935.

The CherryPatch directly patches the BIOS code cached in protected RAM. It remains active until power is cycled... the patch changes the settings when needed.
