Full Version: If I Change The Aspect Ratio In Xbmp...

I have a PAL XBOX so my XBMP was set to PAL under the aspect ratio section. Because a lot of my video files are low-resolution, I changed the setting to NTSC-M to reduce the overall screen resolution and hopefully make the videos look better.

This morning I turned on my XBOX and when I changed the channel to it, the TV detected the signal as NTSC. I ran DOA3 from my HDD [copied from a PAL disc] and changed the channel back and forth and the signal was still detected as NTSC.

So, I was wondering if the NTSC setting is restricted to within XBMP only, or does it make *everything* else display in NTSC as well? I have my XBOX set to PAL60 enabled under the MS Dashboard, for what it's worth.

No, it only affects XBMP, AFAIK. Some dashboards allow you to calibrate your TV, but I can't remember which ones. You may be suffering from the clock-reset problem. Try booting up your MS dash and reconfiguring your video settings.

Well, I've tested it out and the setting in XBMP does affect the whole system.

I went into XBMP and changed the setting back to PAL, then exited and rebooted my console. Then I checked to see what the TV detected the signal as in boXplorer, an XBOX game, an emulated game and at the EvoX dashboard - they all came up as being a PAL signal.

It's not the aspect ratio you are changing, it's the video mode (or resolution).

And YES, the resolution in XBMP is written to the EEPROM and does change the overall system video settings.
