Is it possible using SMB shares or something to share a folder on my xbox so it shows up as a network place in windows,In other words, is there a way that i can watch my video files that are stored on my xbox on my computer without having to FTP them back to my computer??
Thanks

Not at the minute no. The only way of moving data from the xbox to pc is through a ftp. So when you try to play it, it just starts caching.
It will only happen when someone makes a relax equivalent for the xbox.

there are couple programs that enable you to have remote ftp server as mapped drive. try those if you want, but its good to remember that ftp does not provide same kind of access to files as samba does. i guess it's only possible to read whole files (not reading some part of the file from middle of it) and when talking about movies, this would mean that opening the file would require transferring the file into local computer first (i guess that software does it automatically when opening file) because for example divx files have some information in the end of the file and without it they cannot be played. transferring the whole file naturally takes time. not 100% sure from this cause i havent tried this and i have all my movies on my pc¸ but imo this is how it works.

You are correct. Thats what i meant by caching. The whole file is transferred over to a temp folder and then played.
