OK, I know I'm a noob, and I know I don't know the first thing about modding, but how in the world do some people on these forums have soooo many spare parts lying around? I mean, where do they come from? You can't just call up MS and say, "Hey, could you send me 12 Samsung Drives and a couple ver. 1.6 mobos cuz the one I have is broken," can you? And as far as I can tell, there is a scarce supply of people on the internet who sell these spare parts (or at least there's a scarce supply who list themselves on major search engines) so if one who has no affliliation to or involvement in hacker circles wants to start building an XBOX from scratch, where does he go? I'm so out of the loop....

You bring up a good point. Maybe some people like to take apart their xboxes and sell the parts. wink.gif

Yes, but what about people advertising "new" parts? Where do they all come from?
freakit
if you buy a brand new xbox, take it apart, and sell it piece by piece you will profit. alot of people do this on ebay because they rack up the price and make a good partion of money on the xbox.

Or you can just buy peoples broken xboxs. you can take it apart and try to fix or just sell the parts like me. I know a couple of people that work at EBgames and when someone tries to trade in an xbox that has been opened, they won't take it so they call me and i go down and talk the people down to cut throat prices. I bought an xbox a couple of months ago for $25 and parted it out to people i know.If you buy them cheap enough you can sell them cheap.
