Does anyone know how to flash the original XBOX bios? I don't mean a mod chip bios, i'm talking the original bios with no mod chips installed. Can it be done?

Sure but you need some tools.

You can unsolder the TSOP and Flash it. There are a few nice programmers out there commercial available.

There is also a interesting project you can build that lets you flash without desoldering.

A modchip install is a lot easier.

I may breakdown one of these days and build the flasher tool. I have been wanting to for a while but not enough time.

There is now a method to flash the onboard TSOP by using a Matrix Modchip. You can remove the matrix after you flash. Just do a search on this forum on the how-to.

He asked about without a mod chip. Thats why I did not include the Maxtrix.


Those are the only way I know of without a modchip. There may be others.
