Yeah, i thought I did put it in the pinned skins topic but I hit the "new topic" button instead of "add reply". My mistake.
I have a ton of ideas in my head for cool skins but I don't have the tools/experience to pull it off. I was wanting to have my next skin start out kinda like some dvd menus do, have a quick but fancy animation video start up and make the last frame in the video be what the skin is so it sort of animates into place. Other ideas I had were to have a playstation 1 loading video start up and make a dash look identical to the old ps1. Maybe have an entire line up of classic game system dashes to confuse guests when they turn on my xbox. Unleashx has so many possibilities for skins I wish I could dedicate 100% of my time into making some bad-ass ones instead of 8-bit looking ones.
Can anyone out there recommend any good video-editing software etc? Thanks

@Ed_209: Fresh and fun idea....and the only graphic prog i can recomend is adobe photoshop, it got nice features and you will learn to use it very fast if you just toy around with it for a while.
You have good ideas, i wish i got some new ideas but my head is totaly blank

, and my two kids are taking all my time.

Yes...that's true! I don't know why....but i think it's because of the lightning animations!!!

AwEsOmE!
I found video previews for all my games

It would be nice to have sound with the videos.. the files would be a little bigger in size but it would be much better

I just don't like it silent when I view them because the previews pauses my background music when I view them.

The skin you are using might have the audio turned off. Look for EnableAudio tag for the preview and set that to "True".

hmm i can only make one for halo and Star Wars KotOR these are the only games i have from that list

I like having sound to the preview vids, but it very annoying when some vids have EXTREMLEY LOUD sound and others very low sound, so i always have preview sound disabled.
Is there a way to fix this in unleash´s setting?
If not maybe Unleashx can include somekind of "Normalise sound" feature in a future release, that sets the sound level equal for all preview vids?
I dont know if this is possible or even important, its just an idea

Just telling ya so you can look out for that when you make more preview vids.
BTW, how did you capture a video of the game?

This was mentioned somewhere along the middle, and I don't think anything came out of it. If so, my apologies.
------
Regarding game spines replacing static text, it's something that could be possible, I would assume, by creating set horizontal rectangular preview box that searches for the graphic in each game's submenu.
Would it be difficult? Likely, as the sheer difficulty of springing up a new graphic for each game would be a hassle. Some of the talented individuals here have shown immense creativity and skill thus far, and will likely be able to tackle this.
I would try myself, but as a Mac user, I wouldn't know where to start in terms of software.
As for where to find spines, there are a few places:
1) Take the photo yourself
2) Search Google, Yahoo!, etc. for xboxcovers. Who knows what you may find?
I wish I could be more help on this, but other than staring at the .xml files, again, I wouldn't know where to start. If any of you are Mac users (C'mon, graphic designers. If anyone uses a Mac, it's you guys!) please inform me of the software you use (other than PS, of course.)
Thanks, keep up the great work and good luck.

Like I just said in Tweaqr's PM, im happy to give away this skin to anyone who would want to finish it. I simply dont have the time anymore to get this thing going.

straped for time myself lately but i'll add it to my list of things to do unless someone else wants to finnish it. its almost done i think the only thing left to do is the colorsand mayby video support if someone wants to add that in.
tweaqr
Feb 14 2004, 11:51 AM
i dont think it would be that difficult to impiment that ability (unleashx would have the final word on that) although makeing all those graphics would be a pian, and im not sure what it would do to the speed of the dash.
GoSpits
Feb 14 2004, 04:51 PM
Yes, you are definitely right that it would be a pain but there are enough of us. As mentioned, all you really need to do is d/l the cover scan and crop the spine. Then simply convert to the proper format and image size.
Depending on the image sizes and formats, it may not take that long to load. They would be smaller files than the previews, after all. I'm no expert, however.
This is something that would be pretty amazing to see in action, though, just to see if it works.

i would love to see the ability to change the "depth/radius" of the orb in the background. Similar to how neXgen pumps it to like 180 degrees. It gives a lot more depth to the skin. Being able to adjust this value in the skin.xml would be badass.

thinking of moving the preview movie out of the orb into the main window there to fill the void. not really sure what i should do with the open space,....
any ideas?

Hydraulix: This is only a suggestion but try placing the preview graphic in the X orb and the preview vid in the top left corner of the system/main box.

Only small thing I would change is to center the prev vid in the window. Aside from that, it looks clean and the font looks super sharp.
GoSpits
Feb 27 2004, 12:21 AM
FourDoor: I think that if the video was centred, it would seem too right heavy, especially with the picture right next to it.
Maybe that's just the layout editor in me
I definitely like it the way it is and look forward to using it.

hmm i don't realy look back through this thread aways theres a dozzen or so i haven't finnish but interest in them dosen't seem verry high so there still sitting at the bottem of my todo list (helping people tends to get a higher spot then anything im working on unless i have a deadline). I saw the pic i used in the last skin and just wanted to see what it would look like as a skin. I was going to put the source files out so if anyone was interested they could finnish them but working 12-16+ hours a day lucky if i get more then a day off for the week haven't had time to round them up.
