I mostly understand the whole 4.3 GB fitting on a 4.7 GB DVD. My question is:
Does that mean the ISO has to be less than 4.3 GB or the final written files must total less than 4.3 GB?
If it is the latter, is there a way to figure out how much an ISO yields without unpacking the whole thing?
Thanks

Not too sure about the numbesrs, but this should give you a good idea.
Most computer product sizes are calculated that 1gb = 1 000 000 000 bytes
Windows sees that 1gb = 1 073 741 824 bytes
How much the ISO contains is the size of the ISO...
Easiest way - try to burn it in Nero/RNM. If the files are too big, I think the programs are smart enough to not burn them.
