Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had gotten the WMV High Definition (1080) T2 video clips (downloaded from MS's site) to play one their xbox. I have the build from 11/26 and downloaded this video clip to try it out on my HDTV. I switch my Resolution for XBMC to 1080 no problem then when to select the video file and the screen went black and I had to hard boot.

Anyone get simular results, are there other settings from within XBMC I can tweek to get this HD Vid to play? Tips or suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

same results hoping that the xbox can handle it and its just an issue witht he codec implementation

My athlon XP 2100+ can't even handle it without stuttering. I'd be interested to see if the xbox could. It's not likely since wmv depends on the CPU to do the decoding.

Anyhow your issue sounds like a dll problem. Check the XBMC directory...i think its called "/dll". From what I understand you need a wmv 9 .dll file in there.

Thanks,
Do you know where I can find the wmv 9 dll you speak of. Is there on my XP I can simply use or is there a "special" DLL I need.

XBMP is based on mplayer. Look here for codecs.

Thats all I was able to dig up with a quick search of the mplayer site.

You can use latest wmv9 DMO codecs from MS, XBMC is not picky about versions of Dlls. Current MS version is 9.0.0.2980

thanks for all the info guys,
I tried the latest wmv9.dll and it gave different results this time, but not successful wink.gif. This time, the screen when to horizonal flicking lines, then snapped (to go to 1080i) and then hung. So I guess this might be progress wink.gif

I'm gonna try it every new release to see if it evenuallt works, I'm so impressed with XBMC overall, this was just a bonus anyways wink.gif.

I'll keep all upto date if I can get it working somehow.

Thanks again,
rob

It won't work ever, sorry.

we recommend systems of at least a 2.53 GHz Intel or AMD Athlon XP 2200+ or higher processor for 720p and 3.0GHz or greater processor for 1080p.

It's not even close.

edit: they worked fine technically when I tried but the performance was too low. I could hear sound and see a frame of video now and then, so it's possible to get wmv9 movies in lower resolutions to work,

Yeah I tried to watch MS's "Coral Reefs" 720p WMV file, but the Xbox couldn't handle it. For about 2 seconds though my projector had some beautiful images on it's screen. But then the Xbox had a heart attack.
