Mr Ed
Ok, so most everyone knows to make your XBOX use HDTV modes you just plug in an HDTV A/V pack and you and you enable the HDTV modes and widescreen mode in the dashboard. Now the games that support HDTV modes (i.e. 480p, 720p, or 1080i, and/or 16:9) are supposed to look at what you have chosen and use the highest resolution mode they support.

However, I have read that certain games also need user intervention to tell them to use HDTV modes. For example, I read that on startup, you have to hold the Y button down to get Dead or Alive 3 to run in 480p mode instead of 480i.

Since I only rarely hook my XBOX to an HDTV (I don’t yet own an HDTV) I haven’t been able to test this out.

So the goal of this thread is to identify any games that require something “special” to get them to run in HD mode and to list what that is. (No I’m not talking about patching the game for progressive, I’m talking about supporting modes the game was originally written to use.)

So I guess there are 2 questions:
1) Are there games like I’ve read about such as DOA that need a button held down or something else to enable HD mode? Or have I been misinformed?
2) What games are they and what buttons, etc. do you have to use to enable the mode?

There are No special buttons in DOA3 for 480p, it runs at that if the dash is set for it.
Most games run in 480p, a few in 480i and there isn't any easy way to get them to run in 480p, short of a specific patch for each game.
