XBOX is up and running, is there any issues I should be aware of when locking my HDD for the first time.

Locking it basically lets you play xbox live. When you upgrade your hdd, it comes unlocked and you have to lock it again so xbox live doesnt ban u.

Just use ConfigMagic, it'll lock it in seconds while it's in your xbox

yeah dont bother with that tutorial unless you wanna pull your hair out doing it, just d/l Config Magic as suggested (from the usual places) put it on your xbox and then run it...select "lock harddrive" and if your harddrive is lockable it will lock. Maybe give this a look if you wanna be sure ahead of time if your hd model is lockable.
