Well, Figured I'dtoss this up to see reactions. This actually a quickie so bare with me..



This is actually my first skin. It's an ongoing project I guess. Now I know that the window that states Alpha and Load is pretty big, but that's to accomidate the new File Progress added in 48.3.

I like it! I'd like it better if Halo 2 were going to come out anytime this millenium. The only advice I would give would be to straighten out the translucent windows. The jagged edges aren't very "sci-fi" to me. Also, try moving the Avalaunch word to the top somwhere so it doesn't overlap anything.

p.s can avalaunch hold more the on skin ?

Use either Photoshop , PaintShop Pro, or Fireworks (actually any image program that writes to .png format will work fine) and make a 640x480 image named "menu.png". Throw this in a folder that is named to the skins name. That's pretty much it. That will change your menu screen. Then you can make other files named "filemanager.png" , "background.png", and "launch.png" to complete the skinning. Also take a look inside the default skin folder. Every image in there can be changed like the "dvd_selected.png" can be change to what you want and be thrown in your skins folder. It's not that hard at all. All the actual work is done in the image editing programs and ava takes care of the rest.

Also on a little side note to the devs.. If possible try to leave the fonts in the new UI to be in .ttf format like it is now. I think switching over to .xpr's and having to bundle the fonts is a pain.

The skin is based on the xbox.com homepage gfx.
This is a minor uppdate for my post at axs 1.22.04.

My question is, are there are skins out there that display the G: Drive ?

My buddy just got a 250 Gig drive in his and is waiting for G: Drive support. Any links or help to get the drive information displayed would be appreciated.

I did a search for many ways to say G: drive and it returned zero results.

On the avalaunch website in the tour, the screenshots it shows a red skin and a blue skin. I've found the blue skin but i cant find the red one anyway, does anyone have it or know where to get it, it doesnt seem to be on AXS

I din't find it either, but AVA did! Look under download skins at the bottom under the servers. I really don't know where it found this red skin on the net.
Both blue and red are there at the bottom.

I'm really annoyed with this one problem I'm having... I seem to be able to change the font types but not the font colors. Is there any way to do this? I have a primarily white background for my skin and the white on white text is kind of an eye sore. And when a menu item is highlighted, the yellow on white isn't much better.

The colors of the font is (at least usually) coded using d3d, while the shapes are read from file (specially since they use truetype fonts).

Suggestions:
1. Ask the avateam to let you select font colors in the settings. (i doubt this would be much of a prob, more than some people going "i set my colors to xxxx and cant read it again and you crashed my xbox" ;P)

2. Ask the avateam to start using colored bitmaps for fonts.

I would like to know where I can get the skin that is in the demo on the AVA website.

I have searach though AXS.com but couldn't find anything

Someone help me out?

I been also searching for this Media Experience Skin. Since i could only find the XBMC skin for download, i just created my own XME-Skin :-)

Credits to the one, who created this new "universal"-Skin. Its just great

(Oh and the saturation in the background.png is just so high because i tried to compensate the grey layer avalaunch puts over there)

Sorry, no link because i dont have any webspace. Save the images to your harddrive and convert them to *.png :-)
The names are:

filemanager.png
launch.png
menu.png
background.png

and put these files into a folder "XME" an copy this folder into your skins directory.

BTW: Its not my skin, i just converted the XBMC skin. Credits to the one who designed the "Original-XBMC-XME-Skin" :-)

How are you guys creating the trasnparent boxes? I've got psp 7 and am about to get photoshop. Can someone give me pointers on creating the boxes? I'm wanting to make a template.psd to use with several skins. I feel like without the skins ava starts looking too close to evox for my comfort.
