Full Version: Avalaunch 0.48/49 Skins
PuddWakkr - Those last few skins are BADASS. You've convinced me to use Avalaunch when my modchip arrives in (hopefully) a week!
heres a pic that i made, im just to lazy to add in the file manager borders and all that.

Hey I'm a graphic artist and can probably create some awesome skins for Avalaunch. I just need to know how to do it, I'm pretty new at this whole Avalaunch thing so bear with my ignorance!

Pretty simple. Just create 640x480 .png's.
Main screen = menu.png
filemanager screen = filemanager.png
loading screen = launch.png
background screen = background.png
Those are the main ones. It is also possible to change other thing like the dvd_selected and dvd_unselected .png's. Pretty much everything in your media<skins<default folder can be changed. Once you have all your files made up throw them in a folder and put that folder in your media<skins folder and your done.
If you know your fotoshop it's easier to take a screenshot from within ava and then make that .bmp a transparent layer in the skin your working on so you can get everything lined up correctly, then just delete the layer before saving it as a .png.

I did everything you said, created a file for my images, uploaded it to my box, went to the skins loader but my folder wasn't there... I noticed that quite a few skins that were on my box weren't showing up.
Did I do something wrong or is there something else I need to edit as well?

Not sure what the problem is. Make sure you don't have a folder inside a folder. Put all the .png files in a folder named the skin name and put that folder in the skin folder and it should show up fine. What program are you using to make your .png images?
hmmm allxboxskins.com, doesnt work for me when i use IE, but it does work awesomely with Mozilla Firefox.

While not technically ava skins - they are ava skins for your desktop.

It looks like your "AVALAUNCH" text is way too high and would be cut off on the TV screen. You might want to check how it looks on a TV screen before going any further. Otherwise very nice looking.

want to put some skins for avalaunch on my xbox, but i dont want to have to keep deleting/renaming files like the manual says, is their a skin applying program? Or maybe a way to put skins in file folders and then select them from avalaunch? (sorry if theirs already a topid on this, i couldnt find one, if their is one on THIS exact problem just gimme a link)

If the skin uses a unique folder name then you don't have to rename or delete files.
And most skins have a unique name.
And to select the skin you can use Avalaunch.
Don't know what manual you're talking about.
Here's a new skin that I just finished with. It includes a custom boot image. Just place bootimage.png in your avalaunch install directory.

Does anyone know how to recover Avalaunch from a bad skin. What file can be removed for a skin that didn't load correctly. I have had trouble loading a skin that doesn't function correctly and have been unable to get to the screen to change it to a working skin.
I believe XBMC can be recovered by deleting the E:\TDATA\0face008 folder
which will revert it back to default mode.
Is there a similar fix for Avalaunch?

Just edit the avalaunch.xml file and set your skin to "default".
Wow that False Dawn looks really nice. Good job puddwakkr. I am not very good with photoshop, but i like to use Corel Draw a lot better beacuse it seems to be better to use.
