I have a vs 1.3 box and have already installed a chameleon in my machine. It is up and working great. I tried to help a friend who has a 1.1 box install a chameleon as well. Both of us bought the solderless adapter but I opted to solder mine to my MB and do the same for his just to be sure they would not jar loose. I used a continuity tester in each case to verify the pins passed through to the bottom of the board and none were accidentally jumped by the solder. Unfortunately he received a bad chip and is in the process of sending it back to the store for an exchange, I verified this by trying his chip in my machine and it would just cycle through powering up/down like it did in his. Without the chip installed both of our machines booted to the default MS dash and with my chip in my machine it booted to evox as it always did. When I tried my chip in his box it would show the green X and display Xecuter2 below but then boot to the MS dash. I put my HD in his machine to try and get it to boot the the evox dash but it went right to the MS dash again.
Here are my questions:
1) Since these are different version Xboxes and have different chipsets, is that why my HD won't boot in his machine? Like swapping drives between two PC's.
2) Since the D0 is the only point I can't verify with a continuity tester, could that not be a good contact and causing the chip to not boot to the dashboard?
3) If the POST screen shows Xecuter2, doesn't that mean it should be taken over by the mod chip? If I didn't have good contact with D0, it would still say MS correct?
Thanks in advance
