they ran out logical shit to cram into a pc to make it "customized" so know they are puttin whatever they can find into them.. i saw one with a coffee maker in it, and another one with a ??ice cream holder??

putting that much heat into the xbox isn't a smart idea.

yeah, 12v = 12v
but for example, .5A <> 2A
you'll probably kill the box, or blow the fuse if you're lucky.
edit:
I'm sure Vona_a could back me up on this, but sound a lot smart than I.

well you might not be able to light cigarettes with it, but charging car phones, using CD Player adapters, map lights.. CB radio?
just don't expect to be able to run a power inverter and 2000 watt alpine amp and stuff.

It's unlikely that the Xbox would be able to handle the current draw. Anyway, you're being ripped off if you buy this one. Since you're not going to use the drive bay cover all you need is the socket. You can buy one of these at www.digi-key.com or www.jameco.com, or www.mouser.com, or www.allelectronics.com for about two bucks. Then all you need to do is solder two wire onto it and then crimp the other end onto the hard drive power cable. You save $18.00.

me being a pyro, would be too tempted by such a device and would burn down my house and everything in it within minutes of installation...

I will have to back up Timmy on this one.... for only 1 reason:
| QUOTE |
| Uses <9A of current when heating |
(this is directly from their webpage)
thats a pretty vague number, and a pretty LARGE number at that. Theres no way the XBOX PSU can handle a draw of 9A of current ontop of what its currently drawing..... even if theres no HDD or DVD activity....
now, if you were to use it to charge up your cell phone for instance, then your ok b/c at best your drawing 0.5A, and thats nothing to the PSU. so its all up to what its used for.

I'd imagine that draw is directly proportional to the device you use in it
if you were to do it I'd suggest installing a breaker type fuse so if it draws too much from the xbox it just pops the fuse and you reset the breaker

any car lighter would work. they all run on 12v.. that one is just put in a nice panel. So save bucks and goto a junk yard and take one.
Powersupply may not cut it, also might get a little hot, enough to mel plastic

The extra wire in the controller is a very low guage and small wire, it'll melt itself and your controller cable before the lighter heats up becuase of all the current.

What you do is you cut the yellow wire (from the controller) on the inside of your Xbox. Then you connect it to the 12v power source on the inside.
