It would be great if someone could take all info from Rahszhul's page together with all new info in this thread and put it up on a new website (Rahszhul doesn't seem to have time to update his).

I am in the process of doing that. the problem is that I can only work on it at work when I am not doing anything else.
I have about 75% of Rahszhul's page done and then I am going to start weeding through this thread.
I PM'd Rahszhul to make sure he didn't have a problem with me doing this since he did all the work originally. He never responded so I am moving forward with it.

I hate to tell you this, but I never got your PM. I checked just a few brief moments ago, even though it said "0 New Messages". But, to let you know, I don't mind that you are hosting this information elsewhere. I'll even add the link to the first post on this thread.
Also, I was contacted by an individual on MSN, who now has access to one of the sites' databases. As it gets updated I'll provide more info on that... or he might.
When I get the time back from 'work' (as in NOT sent all over the country three times a day) I'll see what I can do about getting more deletions out there on the site, maybe even get some of those improvements for the site like I've been hoping to get completed.
On a similar note, I think I'll be trying to get my own host soon-ish. That way I can put a few of my other webpages out there even if it doesn't interest this community. That, and not having remote access to a database is just a horendous pain in the ass.
Anyways, that's my update for now. Thanks to everybody that's been posting their deletions!!

Rahszhul - That is strange about the PM. I sent it about a month ago.
I am slowly working on it with HTML and no database, but I am also working on a DB version of it. I should have most of it done in the next couple of days and then the stuff from this forum added soon after that.
I would greatly appreciate a link on the front:

Just wanted to thank everyone for there help and the great information provided. But there are still a few games that I have seen request for information for and I too have those same requests. Any help would be great!
The main games I want to save space on HDD are Madden 2005, and NCAA Football 2005. I realize that EA Sports is a pain in the a@# because they use their own disc structure. But any help would be greatly appreciated, and I am sure it will be by more than just me.

Well, I guess it's too late, but instead of starting over with information we already have, why didn't you start with what we didn't have? All that work you have done so far, and you haven't yet provided anything we didn't already have.
Also, using straight HTML, you could have considered just doing a "save as" on some of R's pages and used them as a template. Then, everything would look the same. I once said I didn't care about the "fancy" stuff that R's pages, had. But, compared to solid green you are using, I love R's pages... hahaha. Go figure, eh?
I hope you have considered bandwidth. Your project will be all-for-not if it is inaccessible due to bandwidth or transfer limits.
Good luck!
Hey, Rahszhul!! I'd love to help keep yours updated.

Dec 1 2004, 06:16 PM
Well, I am just trying to help. Maybe I should have went with the new stuff first but hey...
I am not forcing anyone to use my site. If you don't like it, then don't use it.
Also, I am self hosting and shouldn't have a probelm with bandwidth. Especially since this isn't a site someone goes to constantly to keep up on the news. They usually go to it just to look up something and then are gone.
If it gets to be too much, I will increase the bandwidth.
I am hoping everyone likes what I am doing and they use it if they need to.

The above deletions and replacements save up to 140 MB.
I also tried removing a few "Alternate Language" files that I found throughout the game, but when starting the game it always went to a Dirty Disc Error. |
After some more testing I've found the following:
You can
also delete the following files:
/data/Sounds/CoDriver/French
/data/Sounds/CoDriver/German
/data/Sounds/CoDriver/Italian
/data/Sounds/CoDriver/Spanish
An additional 392MB saved
But you
can't delete any of:
/data/FrontEnd/Legal/fre.big
/data/FrontEnd/Legal/ger.big
/data/FrontEnd/Legal/ita.big
/data/FrontEnd/Legal/spa.big
/data/FrontEnd/CreditsF.txt
/data/FrontEnd/CreditsG.txt
/data/FrontEnd/CreditsI.txt
/data/FrontEnd/CreditsS.txt
As that will give you dirty disc error (or simply DDE).
There is some additional language related files I haven't tested to remove, but they are all together about 1MB in size so I didn't bother to try and delete them.
All in all, you can save about 532MB for this nice game.
I think we have found all deletable stuff in this game now.

Actually, your'e wrong. The ACL files have nothing to do with if a game starts or not, it's simply a list of files that people have reported can be deleted and using that ACL deletes all those files for you, so you don't have to use some kind of file manager and delete the files yourself manually.

By the way, anyone tried a go on prince of persia - warrior within ?
Iv'e had a quick look on the file structure and it seems we should be able to remove about 450MB in language related files, and then there's a buttload of .bik anims that should be possible to delete/replace (of course saving those in-game related ones). I haven't verified anything yet, just wondering if someone else is working on this so I know if I should put in more work on this one or not...

The Site!!!
Great work on the site!
The ACLs
People don't really need 'em. If people are too lazy to delete the files manuals, f*** 'em is what I'd say. It takes seconds to delete files. It would take far longer to search for a game's ACL, download it, FTP it to the XBox, then have DVD2XBox post-process it. But, if you want to spend your time that way, go for it.
Prince of Persia
I'll be getting the game in a week or so, then I'll take a look at it too.
