Don't blame dvd2xbox if you don't use the original ACLs shipped with the archive from xbins. Check you default.acl file and I guess you'll find the answer why there isn't a _orig file and the media directory is missing.

WiSo, with all due respect I don't remember blaming anything on anybody, all I did was simply ask a question. Sorry if that upset you. I also wanted to educate people on the fact that deleting the media folder right off the acl is a bad idea, take BIA:Earned in Blood for instance, the media folder on that game contains 718mb of needed data s deleting it would be a bad idea and you wouldn't even have known simply cause most people think deleting the media folder is fine.

P.S. To anyone having problems with Earned in Blood
copy the media folder back into your game's dir. if
in fact it was taken out by the "hacked" default.acl

Yea. Some games have useless junk in the media folder. Others have really important files in there. I usually modify the acls to not delete anything. Then manually delete afterwards reviewing why it was being removed (i.e. foriegn languages). There are only 4 files I consider safe for removal because they relate to xbox live specifically.

OK. Maybe that was only 3. Still though the downloader.xbe file may come in different names. I think I just got one like that. I don't consider the media folder safe to delete immediately for the reason stated above.

Anyhow, the default.acl I have is the one from April/04 that I took out the code that modifies the default.xbe from. I don't know why it deletes the media folder, I just cleaned out the default.xbe stuff. They where just patches that any BIOS does anyhow.

So, I have fixed the default.acl to NOT delete the media folder. If everyone wants the patches to the default.xbe back, just let me know and I will put those back too.

i haven't tried this yet, but if someone wants to confirm it'd help someone out. In the MK:Shaolin Monks i think you can delete the whole english folder and the suffering2_gold.xbe.

sure.. but its only a couple MB.. best to keep it if anything happens, although you can always just rip the original default.xbe from the retail disc anyways...

I was just wondering if the media folder in Live enabled games is used only for Xbox Live.

Since you can't use backups on XBL anyway, I'd like to be able to just go through all my HDD backups and delete all these folders as long as it won't affect the game otherwise.

ive managed to delete all the vids, cause i just play multiplayer, there is one big sound file. global.lvl, which is 700 mb, i think they contain all the ambient soldier voices and speech.

i got rid of all vids and the global.lvl sound.

so does anyone know what files is deleteable on Tony Hawk wasteland and sayin it dont work cause of long filenames is not an answer cause there is obviously patches that let it work. i wanna take the music out if possible and actually everything i can.

Yeah man, I'm sorry I meant to click the face. But anyway, I deleted all the files that he said should work, and I played the game through out with no problem.

As far as the music goes, I'm not really too sure about that. I'd like to know too since I don't much care for the majority of the music on there.

yeah i think i found the music file. its all bundled in one file but not really sure. i might move it to another folder to see if thats it. its in /data/streams/pcm/music_pcm.wad and its 615.73mb and there is also 2 other large files in there but it might just be the voices. other_pcm.wad (187.16mb) and pcm.wad (214.83) i'll delete them one at a time and post the results. Im gonna change my deafult soundtrack off the tony hawk one first tho because im sure it will crash if its selected

Also, you deleted all the movies he said and was able to play the game fine? what are those movies to? and also where the hell are al the x-tra movies (bonus movies) that tony hawk games always have. im sure that will save alot of space also. or are those the movies he's sayin to delete?

thanks for the app. i wasnt aware there was an app for viewing the actual video files. and as far as prince of persia, I didnt think it was out yet. i cant find it anywhere cause i was plannin on gettin it but i was talkin to this guy on kai in germany and he said he has it so maybe its just the pal that is out Well i dont have much space left so i was wonderin if anyone knew the size and files that can be deleted because lately alot of games you've been able to make them around 600-700mbs (or atleast under a gig) and if i can do that to that one then i would want to get it, if not i'll just rent it so i can play it and not have to worry about backin it up. but for a game around or over 2gigs i just cant do it lol

oops forgot to post this, well on American Wasteland you can delete /data/streams/pcm/music_pcm.wad/dat and save 615.73mb/2kb which deletes all the music, you can actually delete everything in the stream folder but the remaining 2 files (other_pcm.wad and pcm.wad) one is the random background soundeffects like car honkings and tires scretching, and the other is the vocices which means you will have to read all the captioning. so if that doesnt bother you then you save another 187.16mb and 214.83mb. So the stream folder by itself is a lil over a gig which leaves the game at around 709.01mb
