Robotech: Battlecry 1.64 Gig before...
Remove the following:
MediavcResourcesxboxvcMovie
Note: You can remove the entire folder or a couple of movies if you like either way still works
But if you remove the entire folder it will save 1.01 Gig
Thus making it small enough to fit on a CDR (622MB)

Given that each file ends with a county code (fr=French, ge=German, it=Italian, etc.) I would guess that they are for different languages and as long as you don't speak that language you really don't need them. As for the movies directory I can't say.

A lot of the movies are CG movies, so they obviously take up space. Also, in the /DVD directory are the files:
SH_VOICE_E.afs
SH_VOICE_J.afs
Those are the 2 voice files for Heroes (English and Japanese). I used it to change the Heroes voices to Japanese but you could delete either one of those if you don't plan on changing the language.
Also in /DVD is:
SNG_TBSFA4.adx
SNG_TBSFA4E.adx
SNG_TBSFA4J.adx
This is Team Chatix's Team Blast sound effect, in which their voices are used. SNG_TBSFA4.adx seems to be the default (but it doesn't look like it's used), while E and J are the English and Japanese ones (yes, this means that English is on there twice). Also delete which ones you don't want to use.
In /DVD/sound is:
bank3e.pac
bank3j.pac
I don't know what these do, but guessing from the E and J, I'm assuming there are some differences. Once again, delete whichever you want.
Finnaly in /DVD/movies:
S1_Jp_XD.sfd
S1_Eng_XD.sfd
is the opening video. The only difference is the title logo at the end, since it's a CG movie, you can save up some space with that.
If you plan on deleting the English voice files and only having the Japanese ones, keep in mind that you will have to rename all the Japanese files to the English ones. For example: IF you delete "SH_VOICE_E.afs" You will have to rename "SH_VOICE_J.afs" to "SH_VOICE_E.afs"
I'm not sure on how much space it saved from doing all this, but it's worth a try.
i started to look at NBA Street Vol2 last night .. so far u can delete the whole //MOVIES//filmroom directory as all it is is the videos for the different jams in the Inside Street section .. if u go into the jams / moves the xbox will freeze tho. this is 186 megs .. in the menu is also a couple of trailer movies, these are in /MOVIES nearest i can figure :] .. i tried deleting them all but it causes the game to freeze on load .. the best way to save the space is to zero out the bigger movies as they are named in a way that its tough to tell whats what .. might b able to hex the default and figure out which ones are the SSX3 demo movie / intro / trailer, or maybe i just need to look harder.. more later.
thank u everyone for this list so far, i have saved over 7 gigs :]

I think i saw that substance was one of the games that couldn't get anything deleted from.
Speaking of, Rahszhul you used to have a list of games that could not have anything deleted. Could you bring that list back, I think it could keep some of the requests down on games like MGS2.

If you look at the MGS2:Substance files, you will see they are named
disk1.bin
disk2.bin
(or something similar) and so on. Unless someone finds a way to edit these files, then you are unlikely to be able to shrink the game to fit on one DVD.

In Max Payne 2 go to the folder:
\movies
all the *.bik files - 288MB freed
\assets\menu\
all the *.rws files - 111MB freed
total - 400MB free
* the *.bik files won't cause problems being deleted, but for rws files I haven't gotten all the way through the game to makes sure there is no problem...but so far so good.

When I went to delete files from Armed & Dangerous, I noticed that it had a Gladius Demo that was pretty big file. I didnt see it in the original list of things to be deleted so just wondering if it can be done. I mean, its just a demo/movie, what can it hurt? Has anyone tried to delete or will it cause the game to lock up if you do?

I figured I would post this info for everyone that wants to save HD space on their Xbox. I did some testing and discovered the minimum amount of space you can use to play DOAXBVB, and what files are necessary to run it properly.
First of all, this is a list of movies and what each one is:
1_VI_WIDE_W.sfd - Team Ninja Movie (Wide Screen Ratio) 2_VI_WIDE_B.sfd - Team Ninja Movie (Wide Screen Ratio) 3_VI_STD_W.sfd - Team Ninja Movie (Normal Aspect Ratio) 4_VI_STD_B.sfd - Team Ninja Movie (Normal Aspect Ratio) 5_DOAX_OP1.sfd - Opening Movie (one with Christie nude) 6_DOAX_OP2.sfd - Opening Movie before going to island (Japanese Voice-Overs) 6_DOAX_OP2_US.sfd - Opening Movie before going to island (English Voice-Overs) 7_DOAX_END.sfd - End Movie after completing vacation (Japanese Voice-Overs) 7_DOAX_END_US.sfd - End Movie after completing vacation (English Voice-Overs) 8_CM_UK.sfd - DOA3 Commercial UK D_CM_US.sfd - DOA3 Commercial US E_CM_JP.sfd - DOA3 Commercial JP F_GAIDEN.sfd - Ninja Gaiden Trailer mv_doa2_1.sfd - DOA1 Demo mv_doa2_2.sfd - DOA2 Demo mv_doa2_3.sfd - DOA2 Demo mv_op.sfd - DOA3 Opening Movie 9_CM_IT.sfd - Nothing (possibly a commercial cut out of the game at the last minute) A_CM_GM.sfd - Nothing (possibly a commercial cut out of the game at the last minute) B_CM_SP.sfd - Nothing (possibly a commercial cut out of the game at the last minute) C_CM_FR.sfd - Nothing (possibly a commercial cut out of the game at the last minute)
You can delete ANY of these movies and the game will run fine. Use this guide as a reference and delete just the ones you don't want anymore.
9_CM_IT.sfd, A_CM_GM.sfd, B_CM_SP.sfd, and C_CM_FR.sfd can automatically be deleted, they are not used by the game at all are are just blank movie files.
If you delete all of the movie files and leave the rest, the game only takes up 1,212,029,308 bytes or just over 1Gig. A great reduction in the size of the game, and frees up alot of space on the HD. The game will also start alot quicker, giving you access to those naked boobies or modified swimsuits, that much faster.
Now if only we could get rid of the Federal Warning at the start. Maybe when I got the time, I'll work that problem out too.
I hope this has been useful information |

ive got ssx3. just go into data/movies and delete nflxshell.mad, nfsxshell.mad, and st3xshell.mad. These are the movies under the Preview menu in the game, as long as you dont try to watch them you wont get a DDE

Yay! Mass updates!
Schweeze,
With SSX3, if you worry about friends ever going into the demos and playing those vids, you can instead make copies of the smallest .mad file, and rename it to the files dedfrog suggests replacing. It'll save from the DDE, and still cut down on a lot of space.
defrog,
Thanks. I'll add the SSX 3 items in the next set of updates.
sulfur,
Thanks for drilling through those games. Especially on the missed folder in Armed & Dangerous.
mC420,
2.9 GB of crap out of a 4 GB ... "game"? That's awesome stuff. Thanks for relaying that!

pirategnome,
Need more input on the
Wrath Unleashed demos. Like folder structure, or amount of space saved. I played the demo of this game, and will NOT be getting it

- Thanks to nitro67, sulfur & SH2000 for help with Sonic Heroes deletions.
