Yes.
If you want to evade making coasters, I'd suggest doing all work & testing on the xbox hard drive though, then burn if it seems to work decently.

Would it be possible to find out if the .nfx files are actually .xmv's or .bik's? Very many developers use their own proprietary extensions.
XMV's play in the UnleashX xbox dashboard
BIK's play in RAD Game Tools on the PC (avail. on the internet)
Just rename the extension and try to play in either of those two programs and see, then more space can be saved.
Edit:
Also with BIK's you can downsample them to save even more space. If there's in game videos that are critical to the game, then you can downsample them to save space instead of ruining the story by deleting them. I'm not sure at all about XMV's, but I'm willing to bet you'd have to have the XDK for that one

hey guys, i really love this thread
im affraid i dont have the game id
but i found a lot more deletables from midtown madness 3
in the language folders i found a lot more languages than just german saves quite a few mb as i only left dutch
also you can replace all the movies with 1sec files, i didnt test simply deleting them
but some of the movies are needed for the storyline (although they are completely unnesicary for the game)
you can delete the cdx folder and the cdx.xbe
i was unable to downsample the movies with radtools though, as i did decide to keep the storyline movies, and only removed the intro's and such.
lets see
Xbox Live /dashupdate.xbe /download.xbe /update.xbe Demos /cdx.xbe /cdxfolder <unsure of the exact name Unneeded Stuff /Data/Shared/Wmv/60/bonus.bik /Data/Shared/Wmv/60/dice.bik /Data/Shared/Wmv/60/intro.bik /Data/Shared/Wmv/60/msgs.bik /Data/Shared/Wmv/60/* (replace with 1 kb files) OPTIONAL Language Files /Data/Shared/Audio/Voice/* (leave english!!)
ill have to update with the exact files, but im not home right now, i dont know the exact name of all the unneeded bik's i also remeber there being some demo movies in the movies folder? this will save a lot more, dont know exactly how much though
PS anyone know wher ei can get the latest radtools, the exe on the website is bad |

Now, there are 4 videos that play before the game starts. I have tried relinked them and they just DO NOT like being relinked. It hangs the game, even if you relink one, or delete one of them. Can't do it. I've tried just about every possibility.
Rahzshul, that new blank.xmv you sent me the other day shows a pink background and makes a pop sound every time it plays (for me anyways). If someone could make one thats 1/2 second long with no audio and a nice black bg, that'd be probably better, even if it's a little larger than the 8k it is now. Compared to the size the original files are, you're using a negligible amount of space. Even if it was 50k or something that wouldn't be bad, as long as it didn't pop or anything dumb.
If I could get a different xmv file to test the relinking with, that might be the trick, but I have a hunch the game looks for something with the videos to make sure it's time to load up the menus. It only loads properly if all 4 correct videos are there, even if you skip over them by pressing A, otherwise it hangs, IGR doesn't work and you have to power off to get back running.
But there's the XBL deletions there anyways that weren't listed, so it's a start.
Enjoy!

gnutellafan,
An easier way then "creating" all the .acl's and saving them each, would be to contact me and ask about working up a remake of my acl script to write the files itself.
The main problem with saving each and every one of them is keeping the acl pack up to date with my database.
I think if I were to create that script I could help you out with that. I'll just have to figure out how to get php to write to a file, and I'll get a copy of the acl pack out there.
toyato89,
Thanks, I'll get that info in the DB.
And yeah, I haven't tested the new blank.xmv myself yet.

Rahszhul,
Sounds like that would have been a good idea a few hours ago. Anyway, I created acls for all the files. If you want the pack I can send it to you for hosting. Its only 115kb, so if your script could create a pack in the future that would be great and make updating all of them easy. Someone should look into adding network code to dvd2xbox to check the web for acl files for each game as you put it in the drive.

Heh, I wonder if WiSo or any of the mirror hosts would really go for that. I imagine that would be an awesome addition to dvd2xbox, but the thought of an extra X thousand requests for an acl wouldn't be that good. Most people using dvd2xbox are backing up games newer than what I've goten ahold of (or the game most others have reported to me). That would create a f--- ton of fluff requests to whichever mirror was being hit at the time.
Also, if you would, toss me the acl pack, and I'll load it up to the mirrors sometime today. Might not be too soon as food calls, but I can leech off of your work for others for a short while.

Playing around with MVP Baseball 2004 NTSC, looks like not much can be removed, unless maybe you want to relink (whcih I don't do, I like movies), but there is a demo video of other EA games.
I believe it's the file \data\frontend\movies\x_sell.mad
If I delete this file, and choose the EA Sports Presents option under the EA Sports Extras menu, the game will freeze, but the music will continue. IRG doesn't work.
If you copy the file back, the games demo video plays, suggesting this is the correct file. I have NOT YET tested if the rest of the game works fine by removing this file, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Other EA games are similar in this fashion.
x_sell.mad is 140.11mb, so by deleting this file you save 140.11mb, making MVP 2969.2 MB (according to Qwix). (whoo, sub 3gb).
I didn't read other posts in this thread, my internet is rather slow ATM, so apologies if someone else has posted this. If not, this is my contribution. I will double check it tomorrow or later tonight.

One slight oddity though... There are a few games listed in the database that share TitleID's with other games. Granted, the "other" game is the same game (PAL vs. NTSC). And with the oddity that is, only one of the acl's is created. Whichever version of the game happened to enter into the databse last is the acl that is generated.
That may cause some issues for those people who don't pay attention. I've added a "readme" to the acl pack, and hopefully people

Rather than timed creations of a new ACL pack, I'll just update the pack the same time I update the site.
Also, the only bandwidth concerns I see with this is if dvd2xbox is made to check any of the mirrors for an ACL when it's ran. On the other hand, people manually downloading a 136 kb .rar file isn't going to kill any servers... yet.
SlackNet,
Yes, the new ACL Pack has those. Sadly it does actually have the "NFL 2K3" updates, instead of NHL 2K3 which was a f--- up on my part. I'll have this fixed later today. I also plan on getting some updates of my own in today, so I say just wait until I update this thread with that info.

lol! hey we all have our moments.

uhm... as for the credit thing... I've only looked at games I have and that I've posted stuff for and noticed sometimes my name's not there.
I think the easiest and best way to go about fixing the credit thing is to get everyone who has submitted a game or added some content to the list to check out their own contributions on the site and make sure that their name is on it. If you don't care, then whatever, but for those that do, it only takes a minute or so to skim over the list. That's how I just verified mine. This thread has become a 30 page monster and I couldn't even begin to start looking for who posted what.
007: Nightfire and
Secret Weapons Over Normandy are the only ones I've contributed that don't have my name on it. Everything else I've done is ok.
Have fun!

...And why wouldn't people want to crawl through this thread? I think this thread has TONS of good info in it. Besides, I've crawled through this thread at least 20 times. I've crawled through this entire forum twice. Ok, so the forum crawling was a mix of boredom and a search for all info remotely related to this thread, I still did it.

liemer,
As of right now, only dvd2xbox uses ACL files.
It doesn't matter what you used to copy the game, but as of right now you can only use dvd2xbox to process the ACL files.
ACL files are only a series of commands, so it'd be relatively easy for any other dashboard or disc copier to use ACL files in the future. But I wouldn't say to hold your breath for that any time too soon.

ACL files are just text files. Just create a new text file with any text editor (like Notepad in Windows) and copy/paste the text into the new file. Save under the specified filename with the ACL extension. Then, transfer the file via FTP into the 'acl' subdirectory of the DVD2XBOX directory.
