Jurassic Park Operation Genesis NTSC
NO DELETIONS. Obviously the one listed is PAL or not NTSC(NA).
Game size is 339 MB.
PLEASE STATE WHAT REGION YOUR GAME DISC COMES FROM THAT YOU ARE REPORTING DELETIONS FOR. IT IS ON THE ORIGINAL GAME DISC. If you do not have this information, then you do not have an authentic retail disc and your information is not 100% reliable.
Rahz, may I suggest putting games with NO deletions in the same area as the games with deletions? It would be more convenient to have them all in one spot instead of searching the list, then searching the no-deletions list. If we have info for a game, let's put it in the alphabetical index and not discriminate based on whether there is a file to be deleted or not. Just a suggestion. It looks like there are only about 6 games on the website you have info for anyway.

Hey Angerwound!!!
How are you getting those numbers you report with your deletions? I'm guessing they help with ACL creation. If I don't have to install a program to get them, I'll start posting that info as well.

It should be NTSC if not noted. I deleted the files with no problems, and have deleted files from every game listed that I have with no problems. I'm guessing you are using an exploit? What games are you having problems with?

avp was the only game that didn't work, it came up with a dirty disk error, and it worked fine before i did this
all 39 of my other games worked fine
i'm thinking i accidently deleted a file that i wasn't supposed to, but i was really careful when i was doing all of this

I'm not Angerwound, but you mean the hexadecimal ID numbers? If you use MXM as your dashboard, you can get that number by highlighing the game, pressing Y, then choosing Game Info (or something similar). On a PC, you can use dexbe (see xbox-scene tools download page) to find the ID. I'm sure there are other tools to do this, too.

Those deletions are for the NTSC (USA/CAN) version. They work just fine for me as long as I left the first logo file alone, which shouldn't be listed in the deletions. Check out my post about it earlier in the thread. I have loaded this game about 20 times or so and haven't had a problem. I have pretty much beat the game.
I didn't replace them. I simply deleted them. If you want to replace them, go ahead.
Anyone else want to verify these deletions don't work for your Region 1 game?

May 27 2004, 01:26 PM
You could just leave the XMV files alone if they don't work for you. I don't think they saved but a MB or two when deleted.
The original post for that game is on page 24 of the thread.

Check out the pinned thread called "Games Taking Up Too Much Space" or whatever it is called. I posted a link for a REAL blank BIK within the last few pages. Just start at the end and go backwards.
For the blank XMV file, someone posted that going to the command prompt and typing "echo > blank.xmv" will create a working XMV file. I know that it creates a very small file with an XMV extension but have not tested that it would work to replace an XMV file in an XBox game. I'm guessing it would, or the guy wouldn't have posted it. Sorry, wish I knew who to give credit to.

Help
I have the exact same issue.
(ACL file deletions and patching are turned on in xbox2dvd)
1) I navigate to my F:\GAMES\ folder
2) Left Trigger
3) Select to process ACL
4) popup says "Processing ACL..." and then popup goes away
5) I go and check a given game directory and there is now a "default.xbe_orig" file (so it looks like it worked) but all the files that should have been deleted; like movies, are all still there.
I've verified that the correct ACL file is in the dvd2xbox\acl\ directory and that it contains the correct information about file deletions.
Any ideas? It looks like this couldn't be any more straightforward but it's not working for me.

oh i'm such a dumbass
the reason my avp got a dirty disc along with 7 other of my games saying file not found or the controller locking up on me was i forgot to make a replacement for the movie replacement files
and now the funny part is right when i remembered that i had to do that, i deleted my games that didn't work
im so pissed yet i mark my post with jesters
why you ask, i don't know, maybe i just lost my mind
i hope this is a reminder to anyone that forgot to do this as well

Why cant these unneeded files be delted from the F:. I did exactly that not using the D: directory. The opening videos are not there when i play the games but there seems to be no added space on my HD. I clearly deleted these files and they are gone but my XBOX doesnt tell me that. MTX: Mototrax
I have processed the ACL during the rip to the HD, and manually... no luck. I used the latest ACL info fro the game from chefelf . The game is loading from "e:\games\MTX Mototrax" which is the exact name/location that dvd2xbox is saving to. Other games have been succesful.
As soon as I select "supercross 125cc" in the beginning of the game, it loads about 1/4 of the way and then displays "there's a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged".
Am I missing anything? If you have anywhere else I can read, or suggestions... please let me know. Thanks.

Whoever posted those deletions didn't do to good of a job, they must have posted a file as deletable and it wasn't. This is why your getting the dirty disc error. Re copy the game to your HDD and don't process the ACL on this one till someone confirms it works.

Wasn't MTX Mototrax one of those games that can't be run from the HD without special attention? Does the ACL address this? When it was released, there were dozens and dozens of threads about it.

I can't recall off hand, I'll look into it.
EDIT:
| QUOTE |
1. Use DVD2XBOX to copy the game to your xbox hard drive. It will freeze at about 97%, at which point you will need to restart your xbox. 2. Using evox, or whatever else you have, FTP to your xbox and find the Mototrax folder. Go to data/textures/Rider_M/ folder and delete the shirt directory (DVD2XBOX stops transfering files somewhere in here). 3. Next, go to your D drive and copy the data/textures/Rider_M/shirt folder to some temporary folder on your computer. Now grab the rest of the files in the game's root directory (dashupdate.xbe, default.xbe and update.xbe on the D drive) and move them to that same temporary folder. 4. Using xISO, create an iso containing the 3 files and 1 folder you copied to the temporary folder on your computer. Save the iso, go to nero (or whatever you like to use) and burn that iso to cd using the lowest speed availible. 5. Place the burned CD in your xbox and go back into DVD2XBOX. Copy the contents over to your xbox hard drive. These files will be placed in a folder titled MTX Mototrax001 (as you alread have an MTX Mototrax folder). 6. Using FlashFXP access your xbox again and find the MTX Mototrax001 folder. In there right click on the shirt folder and select move, and move it to MTX Mototrax/data/textures/Rider_M/. Move the remaining 3 files to MTX Mototrax/. Delete the empty MTX Mototrax001 folder and reboot, thats it! |
These are the instructions to fix the problem, irascible. If you still have trouble let me know.

if you delete MOvie Replacement you get a DDE and causes the game not to work

Are you saying you deleted the files in the 'Movie Replacements' section and got a DDE? If so, that's exactly what would happen. The idea is that any file in that section needs to be replaced with a blank or smaller version with the same filename. Click on the text Movie Replacements in the database to read more.

thanks for the reply, but I found out the problem with this game. Also, I read your second post on what you have found for this game, and i'm not sure why people have problems copying that dir... but the latest dvd2xbox works fine without having to do that step.
The ACL for this game works perfect but doesn't address (not sure if it can) the problem with long filenames that aren't compatible with FATX. XBEpatcher has been programmed specifically to address this issue with MTX and renames all files to a compatible file length. I have used this program and the ACL and have successfully backed the game up to DVD and am running it succesfully from the HD.

You didn't need to use a replacement/blank video for the tutorial. And all those other videos in Offline01 are just proto-type vids from like...two years ago and marketing videos for the upcoming movie. Just delete the "Video" folder all together and save, what, 634 mb I believe? You can also delete all the videos in the Content folder as well, without worry. Personally, I just deleted the rather larger intro and kept the shine and outro vids, but...to each his own.

Links to Blankvideos.zip are not working and I'd really like to get my hands on a blank XMV or 1 second XMV file... I have the blank.bik file and that's great.
I tried the "echo > blank.xmv" but this causes the game to lock without displaying anything. This was tested on both Van Helsing and Chronicles of Riddick. Deleting some of the files also causes the games to function incorrectly.
Anyone have any suggestions... ?

Also, someone posted earlier asking about attract.xmv files and someone replied that they're used when the game is at the start screen and this kicks in.
This is very rarely the case, and these attract.xmv and attract.bik files are generally used on compilation demo discs that stores recieve and use for display purposes, or in demo menus.
Personally, if I have a few megs to spare on a multi-game backup, I use these attract files in the demo window in my CDX type multi-discs. But they're almost always okay to delete... but be sure to test first!
