Never mind, found a site with the details I needed. Perhaps someone could modify the top-most posting to assist future readers of this thread.

hey beamish STFU...

dont shout dick, and they do work if you read one of the prior posts, or use a little initiative, i use it at least once a week...

Yeah I agree! Beamish, FO.
Firstly, two URLs are working perfectly at the moment - just checked myself and secondly, don't bitch and moan about a free service!

AAARG!

Alright, for the uninitiated, and want-to-know types... The main I've been 'gone' is that I'm in the Air Force, and occasionaly get to go 'do things' 'somewhere else'.

As for the two mirrors being down... I have no clue why, as all mirrors pull from the same database. On a similar note, I've had two or three offers for other mirrors, and I'll see if those offers are still valid, or see about getting a host of my own.

Anyways, I'm going to get to work on the site over my gladly accepted four day weekend and see if I can't get everything back up to speed.

As for the first post and it's crap-load of 'broken' links, I'm just going to link straight to the deadeye site for now.
ILLusions0fGrander
id take the 4 day weekend, and make it a 4 day weekend, and enjoy yourself on your time off!!!!

grill a steak and sip a beer man...
Rahszhul
Hehehe.. take a four day weekend... I like that...

On a similar note, two new mirrors.

http://rahszhul.xhce.com/
http://www.maverex.net/xbox/

As of right now, they still pull from that exact same database, but soon they will each be there very own complete site, so there will be less of a chance that all will be down at the same time.

Edit: and, for some strange reason, it looks like the two previous mirrors are working again... or maybe I just hallucinated that.

Ok great link i can delete the files wahoo. Now i want to take it a step further and actually understand what the hell im doing and how to delete the right files. Any one have a good website for a newb to start to understand.

Also I dont get how i can just delete a file. The program at one point has to call the file for a reason so what happends when the program trys and calls the file that got deleted? also they always say you can delete the dashupdate.xbe for xbox live wouldnt that prevent you from being able to play it online (via xbconnect or other programs like it)?

I also read something on relinking different video files. If anyone has a good website that they use/used please post up a link.

Thanks.
Rahszhul
These are all questions I've answered many times before. But, I'm not totally against re-answering for the un-initiated. I mean reading through 850+ posts would be hell, right? ...right?

How to delete? If you store backups on your hard drive, and have FTP access to your xbox, deleting couldn't be easier. Just go to where you put the game, then go to the file/folder listed, slect it, delete it. Golden! (I, however, suggest backing up what you plan to delete just incase it doesn't work for you.)

If you have the .iso on your computer, then it's a case of extracting the contents to a folder on your PC, and going to the proper file/folder and delete it. Then you can re-iso the newly ripped game and burn it to disc, or transfer the game over to your xbox.

If you've already backed up your games to DVD-R or similar non-rewritable media... you're S.O.L.

Dependant on how the game was coded, deleting a file could cause prolems. However, I'd say 40% of the files I've listed are never called. Those being other languages, or videos encoded for a different region.

In the case of videos deleted that ARE called upon, like pre-game company logo videos... the game will call for the file, receive an error, but the coder's didn't error trap for this possibility and game moves on to the next step.

Anyways, xbox live... NO! Want detailed reasons why? Go to any one of my mirrors, find a game with xbox live deletions, and click on the header "Xbox Live" Mass info!

On a similar note, xbox live, and LAN are completely different code sets. (Remember X-Link and XBConnect make the internet look like a LAN to your xbox, not an xbox live clone.) So, removing xbox live content does not harm your backup, nor it's ability to play LAN based games.

Relinking Tutorial.
total_ass
first of all you can't play a backup on xbox live anyway, so dashupdate can be deleted.
the whole idea of it is that you are deleting files that the game doesn't use.
snake3k1
Yep dashupdate.xbe and update.xbe can be deleted in EVERY backup and not harm the backup in any way.

Bumping this page. Falling down the list smile.gif
toyato89
Yeah... you shouldn't have to bump the page though, b/c it used to be pinned... what happened to the pin? This is probably the longest thread in the history of message boards (don't quote me on that though), so obviously for historical reasons the pin should be reinstated.

Well, that's my $0.02 anyways. Take it or leave it.

Anyone have deleteables for these games:

Burnout 3:Takedown
Street Racing Syndicate
The Guy Game

Thanks in advance.

Damn all mirros down, must be a problems with the main database
foolishknight
i know that Street Racing Syndicate works without shrinking it cause i backed it up already fits perfect on a dvd-r.
BigDaddyShoo
So I processed the ACL's on a game that doesn't have any deletable files (Simpsons Hit & Run). Looks like dvd2xbox created a copy of default.xbe and renamed the orginal default.xbe_orig. Can I just delete the default.xbe_orig or do I need to delete default.xbe and rename default.xbe_orig without the '_orig'? It takes up about 50MB of space (every little bit helps!).
AZImmortal
"default.xbe_orig" is the untouched .xbe. "default.xbe" has been patched for media checks. if you have a recent bios, it doesn't really matter which one you keep, but for simplicity you can just delete "default.xbe_orig".

Seems like the mirrors are down again sad.gif
I have set up a temporary mirror which were updated yesterday:
http://mohuhau.serveirc.com:8080/xfr/
Rahszhul
Wow... you saved everything as html... that's ... yuck.. but at least it works.

I updated the second post in this thread talking about the Connection Errors and that I'm going to be working on getting away from the single database for all mirrors (especially a free public one).

Hopefully that will keep all mirrors from "being down" at the same time.

Edit: Also, I'm going to add that as a temp mirror since it'll probably work when others don't. Let me know if that's a problem, and I'll remove the link. ...Thanks.
playboyshort3
Does anyone have any deletables for the guy game? It is 6.5GB retail and i would like to put it onto dvd-r so i do not reck my retail copy.

has anyone got all the acls?
The Web site has them all but only from - All ACL's (23 Mar '04) -
overfiend
Razul, just a few questions.

First, I just ripped my copy of LOTR:Two Towers to the box and noticed that none of the files mentioned on the site actually appeared in the folders for the game. This is one of those games that didn't have a acl but still had deletions made. So I was wondering what went wrong there. The game is originally 4+gigs and the deletions should take off 1.86 gigs but I just can't find any of those files(there not there).

Second, I asked you this before: Why isn't there any new acls? And you said something about pal version ppl and confusion. And I understand. But Can you post all the deletions that have been made to games that didn't need an acl on your site. That way it's easy to get to. Thanks in advance. Overfiend.
Rahszhul
http://rahszhul.xhce.com/ - The first self-sustained mirror exists.

So if that goes down, the others aren't garunteed to be down also:). Though, if it does go down because of me, I'm sure XBOX War3z will find me and kick my ass.

I'll soon be bugging chefelf to retell me his db's info so I can get that one up and running too.

I should be answering a few questions that were asked recently, but tomorrow promises to not be fun, and I need to get to sleep. I'll answer Q's and help point people in the right direction blink.gif

Unneeded Video Files:
These video files play after you beat levels of the Historic campaign. They are short clips from the new Star Wars DVDs coming out. If you have seen Star Wars you have seen these clips already. Therefore they can be deleted to save space.

The game will work if you delete these last 2 movies but I didn’t since they are the menu and tutorial videos.

/Data/_LVL_XBOX/Movies/shell.mvs
This movie provides for the cool menu background and star wars music, the game will work without it but the menu will be boring black and silent. Only 65.2mb
/Data/_LVL_XBOX/Movies/tuteng.mvs
This movie provides short tutorials for all the aspects of the game. You need this to know what all the characters and vehicles abilities are. It’s worth the 187mb.

So if you really have to you can delete all the videos and save about a gig.

simonx314, ddrllama, Virtucon, and others in the past,
Thanks! Your help is always appreciated.

overfiend,
#1; It sounds like you have a version of the game that I don't have listed. (PAL/NTSC)
#2; paulmarriott is the one who reported those deletions. You'll have better luck asking him.
#3; There's no ACL, becuase I don't know the titleID for that game. But, since you have the game, maybe you can get me that info. tongue.gif

overfiend and DrLurch,
I've been "gone" for several months. I've mentioned that publicly in this thread several times. That's why the ACL Pack seems out of date.
overfiend
Razhul,

Where do I find the titleID for the lord of the rings?
Sorry for asking, but are you working on getting some acls or are you giving up on the project? Cause if your not I'm just going to put all the info together from this whole thread. It's goin to take a while but I'll do it if I have to. Thanks so much for your replies and keep up the amazing work. I Love dvd2xbox it's the only ripping ware I use and out of all my games it's never failed me.
Rahszhul
Damn dude, just cut and paste my "name".

No, I'm not giving this shit up. I just spent the past two and a half days getting three mirrors properly set up so I can evade having every mirror appear to be down at the same time. Maybe I'm retarded, but that seems to push the point that I don't want this "project" to die.

And, several ways to grab the titleID. Link
overfiend
rahszhul,
