I have same problem with cheapmod. put it in on/off (green), on/off(green) on (red/orange).

Then I took out the mod. Same thing. Not sure what happened.

Any help would be appreciated

I have the same problem with X-ecuter installed

If you took it out and it still didn't work there is only a few things that could be wrong.
A. Solder splash somewhere...Examine your board.
B. You forgot to plug everything back in. Go back and double check everything.
C. You screwed to d0 point. Look at it carefully.

Posting pics could help determine if it's A or C But my money is on B.

Update:

tried with av cable out and it blinks green/orange but the on/off still happens.

I tried with the chip out but the d0 jumper in place and i get red/green flashing but the on/off still happens.

I tried with the hd/dvd plugged/unplugged on/off still happens.

Something seems to be shorted. Does anyone know where the overheating sensor is located?

It's not overheating that fast. Check ALL your connections.

I have. I am not a newbe when it comes to modding things. I also removed the pins from the lpc socket and removed the solder with a wick. It is my knowlege that the LPC port is inactive when d0 isnt jumped.

Is this correct or is it that LPC boots when d0 is jumped but can be active with out d0? (probably)

In any case what is bothering me is the fact that with the mod removed along with the d0 jumper, the problem is still there.

I'm sorry if I came across as harsh...d0 doesn't make the lpc active or inactive. It grounds out the tsop. Try getting a scan of that area....Maybe a pic will help.
bubbag
its kinda hard cause i reinserted pins there and wont be able to get a close up with the pins in place
limbfilter
If you use a scanner it'll pick up real nice. Trust me. biggrin.gif

Ok Ill try later.

I was doing some further analisys and it seems that the eyelet on hole #3 of the lpc header is damaged, missing now actually. I dont think it was damaged to begin with after the inital install; I think it happened after many attempts at removing and reinserting the header pins. I have done many machines and this is the first boo boo. Could have been a weak factory eyelet that was damaged when I was sucking out the solder......or one to many beers.

Ill see if I can get a PCB repair kit mad.gif and fix the eyelet (both sides) and clean up all they LPC eyelets and connecting traces. This seems to be a logical source of the problem.

This is the kit I am eyeing: http://www.intertronics.co.uk/products/crc2012100.htm but it is big big bread so if anyone has any alternative solutions please please post.

I am convinced that it has nothing to do with hd/psu/dvd/cables/etc. It must be that eyelet

can any1 tell me what d0 is?
GoBiE
and bubbag cant u show me a pitcure of ur problem???
bubbag
Ill scan it for you later.

Basically I have only touched the LPC and the alternative D0. I don't believe its a D0 issue because the points are clean
limbfilter
Which one is hole #3? The one that's numbered #3 on the mobo or your install point #3...although I think they are both the same.
bubbag
yeah the one next to the empty pin on the mb. i have left it alone for a while but this weekend ill play with it. i am pretty sure that i just need to get the eyelets repaired. instead of doin it myself i will look for a company that can. will be waaay cheaper than getting a pcb repair kit even though it would be good to have for other projects.
GoBiE
bubbag can u show me a pic??

And what is D0 ??
theraven871
The chip isnt soldered on correctly.....the little holes where you put the solder thru arent touching the motherboard beneath it. If you dont belive me look under trouble shooting here..

http://www.gamegizmo.com/index.php?sID=15&dID=75

Dont feel bad I did the same thing and had to re-solder....but then it worked great.....just get a REALLY fine tipped soldering iron and poke it thru the holes when you are resoldering....but only hold it there for a split second..
stupid2ass
What is wrong with you theraven? Cutting and pasting anything regarding a problematic Xecuter install. Are you from gamegizmo?
Did you even read the post here?
NOTHING is on the board. Modchip is off, pin headers are off, no wire to D0. He didn't even do that stupid chip-chip install but the much easier and safer piratesrus way.
I'm also interested in the comments here since I am having the same damn problem.
I think I fried something but I don't know exactly what.
Nothing is on the Xbox yet it still won't boot. I'm gonna go through my board with a microscope soon smile.gif.
I'm *t h i s* close to upping it on ebay as broken.
My morals won't allow me to do that illegal swapping a broken Xbox for a new one at your local gaming store.
