I have an XBOX that FRAGs without a mod chip. This XBOX was given to me by my neighbor to try and fix.

What does it mean when a XBOX frags without a Modchip?

I have taken the DVD and Harddrive out my working system and placed them into the neighbors XBOX, but it still FRAGS.

Does this simplely means that the XBOX is toast or is there something else I can look at?

I forgot to mention this person has a Xecuter 2.2 lite plus modchip that he failed to get working.

Is there a D0/ground wire still attached (which disables the onboard bios)? Is there any obvious damage or solder splash?

The modchip has pogo pins, so there was no soldering involved.

I now have the XBOX up and running with the modchip, but when I turn off the mod chip the system still FRAGs. I have the HD locked, what else would case FRAGing without a modchip?

Sounds like you should try Slayer's 2.5 and then choose option 6-3, restore retail xbox hd to factory. It sounds like the original dashboard and other files were trashed.

Also before he took the chip out if he left the modchip enabled he needs to disable it then take it out. Also get the slayers disc and do what he said restore the C drive back to normal he might have formatted the drive.
