I don't understand something. You said she just pulled out onto the road, how fast was she going? I ask because at a low speed something like that would be avoidable. I mean hitting the curb, not the car falling apart on its own.
Also, was she or anyone else hard on the car? Looks like it broke from stress. Or I could be way off and General Motors owes you big.

thank god no body was hurt. I took a nasty spill on a motorcycle. Initially all I suffered was a road rash...then I come to learn that the column in the bike had cracked causing the crash....
You guys should really check up with the guys who approoved your car inspection, They probably could have detected this before it turned tragic.
You guys are pretty lucky......Id like to see the outcome of this when you guys take on the BIG GM

So how was the front end so smashed up? Looks like alot of damage for just a curb to do.

It broke as she was making a left hand turn. Thats why she went into a spin. Then as she was spinning she hit a light pole, (that did all the damage) she wasn't realy going very fast. I mean the pole she hit is maybe 50 yards away from the street she turned out from. And v6 fbody's aren't fast so At my best guess she couldn't have been going more then 35mph when she started to spin. Lots of luck though. That road is pretty busy, both lights were red so there wasn't hardly any cars near her when it happened.
Yeah she is ok. But I am pissed cause what if this would have happend while she was on the interstate. The cop guessed she was going 20mph when she hit the pole. Just think of the damage that would have been done at just twice that speed.
I don't know about a law suit as GM can afford better lawyers then we can. But we are looking into it.

Axles should NEVER break from stress alone, it must have either been faulty or previously damaged by impact!

dude thats insane , id like to see some pics of the metal close up , where the lighting shows the metal good,, it would show if it was snapped or if it twisted off like a bottle cap.
another thing possibly might be the rear axle bearings siezed up and the axle got so hot from no lubrication that it snapped, but usualy rear bearings go out and the axle will just sieze and the tire locks up. had that happen on my 78 chevy 1/2 ton pick up. except the axle dide lock,, and i thought the break was just fucked up on that side, so i drive home 10 miles and when i get outside the brake hub is GLOWING RED,, so i like run the fuck away from the truck and before i turn around the tire blows up. let me tell you if you have never heard a tire actually blow up. it sounds like a god damn canon.
anyways.
i would say my friend you and your girlfriend have a very promising law suit on your hands. it would be within your best interest to contact a lawer ASAP.
i can imagine. within a year your girlfriend will have herself a large sum of money and a nice Ram AIR Firebird LT1. the supernice 6speed. god it aint and LT1 its better than that, ggrrr i hate my memory.

I agree with moistness, I know Camaro's as I assume u can tell. That should not have happened. Take her vin and run it thorugh the carfax system and see if any accidents come up even if she bought it brand new from the factory. My parents had a 88 bonneville that they bought brand new, after a couple years of owning it the paint started to peel and fade away. GM said it was a error at their paint facility and they would cover it, well when it was repainted we found tons of bondo on the drive rside from stem to strern. We later found out that on the way from the main plant it was in a accident while on the carrier and they just patched it up and sent her out. Some car dealers r dodgy like that. So get that checked out.
P.S.
V6 Camaro's r pretty fast if u get the 5 speed with it and do some minot upgrades : )
