I am having problems with installing EvoX dsahboard and i can't connect to Xbox via FTP!!!

I have read all the tutorials i can find about these problems, but still cannot get them running properly!!!

I have burned the EvoX onto a CD-RW disk using both Nero and Easy CD Creator, but cannot get the Xbox to install it!! It keeps saying that it can't recognoise the disk!! I used the same type of disk for the X2 Bios, which worked ok. I have put on a dummy file of over 250Mb as well as the Evox ISO i made with xboxisotool-1.1.

I also can't FTP to the Xbox. I have used IE, made a network place, FlaseFXP & CuteFTP. None of these work. I have the Xbox running thru a Linksys router, and tried a static IP, then tried using automatic IP. The auto IP is 192.168.1.101, 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.1.1 (the router).
When i connect with FlashFXP it says it's connected, but then just times out!
I have McAfee Virus and firewall installed, and have tried turning these off, but it still doesn't work!

Please help!!!

how are you even trying to ftp if you can't even load evox? are you just trying to update evox and have a version on there already?
Trevante

Thanks for your help...but it's still not working!!! That is the way i have been burning my cds up to now. I have also used craxtion to make an iso with the *.zip dummy file in the folder, but no luck.
This is what i have in my folder that is made into the ISO file: Bios, Skin & Trainers folders. dummy .zip file, default.xbe, EvolutionX Build 3935.nfo, evox.ini, original-readme.txt, readme.txt, Trainers Source.zip.
would one of those be causing a problem????

ok...still have a problem...but more serious now!!!

I was trying to install EvoX when the Xbox froze, so i restarted it, and now all i get is a blue screen!!!

When i burn the *.iso image am i suppose to double click that file which will open nero or Easy CD creator, or do you open nero first then add the *.iso file to the disk?? I read somewhere that you should not be able to read the disk from explorer, and by doing the first method you can't.

I have tried to reinstall the bios, buts it just stays at a blue screen!!

Help!!!

Cheers

IF you messed up while installing evox just boot an evox cd from the dvd drive
also the ip changes because you dont have Static Ip checked off in the evox settings

EvoX is not installed...that is what i was trying to do.

Now as i said i don't get anything on the screen when i start the Xbox.

I now realise that i can't ftp to it until i install EvoX.

I am trying to burn a fresh bios disk. But i also want to know if i should double click the iso file, or just burn it straight onto the disk as is.

cheers

you dont need a bios disc if you already flashed. just burn a evox iso
HAL2001
So, let me get this straight. Correct me if I am wrong.
-You succesfully flashed your bios using an Evox or Xecuter bios.
-You burnt an Evox boot cd but in the process of getting this disc to read you are now getting a blue screen.

If you're still getting the blue screen, you will not have to re-flash your bios. More than likely this is just a problem with the connetion between your xbox and your tv. What happens when you turn the modchip off and turn on the xbox? Still a blue screen? If so, its a connection problem. If it were a problem with corrupted files or the like then the xbox would display a message telling you that your xbox is in need of service.

Now as far as burning the disc. Make sure you re-name the evoxdash.xbe file to default.xbe otherwise it will not load. Make sure you are burning it as an image using the slowest speed, disc-at-once, no-multi-session. Make sure it is a CD-RW. If this still doesn't work, try different brands of media. I have had good luck with Memorex.

yes i flashed the chip with Xecuter2.4979_REPACK.

Yes to the second point.

the Xbox seemed to work ok with the chip off, but after a min or so it just freezes. it does that with the chip on too. Quite often it will freeze at the start-up bit too!!...like almost always!!!

i got the EvoX screen up twice now, but both times it freezes after a few seconds, then i have to turn the Xbox off again.

FRUSTRATING!!!!

OK...i am a Big DICKHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the top cover off because i am planning on replacing the HDD. Now that i have put it back on...it seems to be working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Num-Nutts!!!!!!!!!!!!

now i just gotta figure out how to FTP etc.

Cheers and thanks for all the advice!!

(Newbies (like ME!!!) Take note.....PUT THE COVER BACK ON!!!!!!)

Try using my guide to help you ftp.

Thanks, i got it to FTP ok last night and EvoX came up alright, but now it's crapped out again!!! I am getting fed up with this stupid thing!!!

It now comes up with a blue screen every time i start it. Sometimes it boots 3 times then flashes green and red. i have chacked the TV connection and it looks fine.

Can anyone help???

Thanks

If it tries to boot 3 times then the power light flashes red and green, it means that there is a loose connection with the modchip.
cowwee
yeah i wondered that...but it only does it sometimes...most of the time i starts, but to a blue screen!!!
cowwee
I wonder if i should try this if it's the power.....

For those of you who have power problems with their original X2.3 Lite, you can try to cut the 2 black wires that go to the usb adapter and solder them to LPC#6 (5v).

which hole is the LPC#6 (5v)????????????????
cowwee
where is the LPC#6 (5v) so i can solder the USB leads to???????????????????
