I just installed my chameleon and everything seemed to be going well. I installed Xecutor2 BIOS sucesfully. Then I started up Slayers Auto Installer. It recognized the disk, then I set used option 4: REBUILD HDD on V1.X SYTEM. It seemed to copy all of the files sucessfully. So I turned off my XBOX and rebooted. And I got the screen of death, saying my XBOX needed service. It wont run my BIOS or SLayers CD. Only my Original XBOX games. What do I do to fix this, and how can I prevent it from happening again? Thanks guys. Please help me out.
Seedz
Sorry about the double post, it said it didnt go thru the first time because of flood control. Anyways, can somebady help me out please? JD?
Seedz
If it helps, it had the number 13 in the upper left of the screen. I looked the error code up in the slayers manual and it said Error 13 "Dashboard launch fail(due to missing/bad key, or anything else that may cause it not to launch) and the dashboard didnt specify why it failed" Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks again.

You sure the chip is still aligned correctly?

Are you using a colored BIOS? If so, does it show up as it should (colored)?
Seedz
I am not using a colored BIOS. But when I put in a game, it loads up with the XBOX logo and the Xecutor2 title at the bottom so, I know my chip is still in correctly. Any ideas how to fix it?
pontfirebird73
just keep restarting the xbox with the slayers cd still in the drive until it loads.
Seedz
Do you think it will recognize it eventally? Because I have tried an numerous amount of times to no avail. Im thinking that it wont recognize the disk from the position that its in, but I will continue to try. If you have any other ideas, shoot em at me. Thank you so much for your help.
pontfirebird73
you could try differant media or swapping in a dvd drive (which i did).
Seedz
Okay, I got the slayers to come up again. Thank you for all your help. What option should I choose to install? I did 4 last time, and it didnt work. I dont have any save games or any info on it anymore, after the first try, so that stuff doesnt matter, I just want to get it up and running. I have a Chameleon mod, version 1.0 xbox. Thanks again.
pontfirebird73
format original hdd

it should copy over everything you need.
Seedz
Okay, I got slayers to read, and used option 4 again to format the retail HDD and add all the apps. After it finished I turned off my xbox, and started it back up again with out the CD, and I got the same screen, with the same error 13. Why is it not copying the files correctly. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for all your assistance.

Hi,

I used option 4: REBUILD RETAIL HDD on V1.X SYTEM.

Hmm, that option is not for installing a new box, just to REBUILD a broken install for a V1.x system.

For future reference using Slayers with a new XBOX using the RETAIL HD you should first link up via Ethernet cables and follow this:

A) Once booted Slayers select option 2: Save BIOS / EEPROM (XBOX C:backup)
B) Select option 7: System Settings and look up the IP address of your X-Box
C) FTP to your Xbox and transfer the entire C: drive as a backup.
D) Select 6: Format Options for Any XBOX V1.x HD
E) Select 6-6) Format only F: Partition (if you have a 10Gig Seagate you now have a 2Gig F:)
F) Select option 5: INST/UPG XBMP, M$DASH, APPS & EVOX3921.
G) Select either 5-1 or 5-2 (depending on whether you successfully made F:)

If you select 5-1 (Install to F:)

H) Select 7: Flash Mod chip or XBOX v1.0-v1.5 ON-BOARD TSOP
I) Select 7-6: Flash 256K MOD or v1.2-1-5 TSOP w/X2-4977 *FC*

(This installs a BIOS which can boot from F:)

I have a feelin that you now have a mixture of different dashboard version files on C: and E: some are 1012a700 type, some are the other 1012700 type? But this is just a guess.

once you get slayers to load up you should be able to ftp to your xbox so you can get a visual of what is on your c: drive.

I dont have a f drive, I only have the 8 gig HDD. And Ive tried the option you said, but that is only an update option, meaning I must have a version of Evox already installed for it to work, and I have nothing. Thats what im getting from the slayers install manual. Im going to try to copy it to the drive using diferent media and see if it works. I never thought I would run into trouble at this point, I thought the steps before this were going to be the most diffucult. Thanks for your help guys.

That is NOT true.

It says "INST/UPG" meaning install or upgrade.

This IS the correct way to use Slayers.

Unfortunately you've overwritten the M$ files on your hard disk by trying to use option 4 (which is for repairing broken installs) which seems to be broken for your Box.

You'll be able to use 5) to install EvoX, and get rid of all this dashboard error msgs, however you wont be able to use your box with the chip off or use the original M$ dash until you figure out what went wrong.

Use 5-2 of slayers to install EvoX to C:

I would ask...what bios did you flash?

I bet you installed an "fc" bios...which means that it'll try to boot first to f...

you hosed something up in that install....

you have slayers, so you can boot to slayers disk, and use FTP to check whats on C...and whats on E

Have you been reading? He said he doesnt have an F: drive because he has an 8Gig drive!

Duh!
