Been dying for some help and need to re-flash my applex-3 chip but keep getting an error message that says unknown device type and i went into my ini file and edit it but still the same message. Does anybody know the brand of chips that apple use?

Do you mean to reflash it in evoX?
256k bios..
But is that what you mean or do you mean to flash it with a programmer from the PC?
scorpionking77
i mean flashing it through Evox, i flashed it earlier with the m7 bios and apprarently it didnt flash well cause i h ave games that lock up on me and ive been trying to reflash it but keep getting the error message unknown flash device. cant flash it on the pc

Based on cheapmod LPC it is a SST49LF020

It flashes easily in EvoX
scorpionking77
yeah it flash great the first time i did it but I keep getting that Unknown flash type message ever since, i dont know what went wrong but it wont flash anymore and made the bios on there unstable cause it kept some of my backups to constantly lock up on loading screens and MXM vidoes to crash, i swap modchips from a friend and took his matrix and everything works flawlessy. i dont understand i guess its a bad flash and i dont know how to fix it since theres no other way to wipe it clean and start over. why i was wondering if i cld just either solder it to the matrix programmer i have or just wrap the wires on the header on the programmer and see if thats a way to wipe it clean and fix it , just not in the mood to expierement since im broke and dont want to order another chip but then again i should of gotten the X2 earlier blink.gif

I suggest you update EvoX to v3935 it is mainly a bug fix release it could fix the problem

This may be a stupid question, but are you sure you have done whatever you need to enable flashing for that chip?

If so, then it sounds like the chip has become faulty.
scorpionking77
Naw not a stupid question, honestly ive done all i can through Evox, Ive updated the ini, udated with 3935 so im lost on whats left. but there are some other methods ive been wanting to try but been having trouble finding, FlashX or just recently i saw something about a raincoat flash not familar with that but i ll keep looking to see about trying those programs. im open to suggestions on trying to erase and flash this stupid apple chip but i bet i did something to it by accident
