Hello, i am totally new here,
maby this question was allready answered but i read a lot of threads but not about this.
I have a xbox wit an xecuter chip, it should support a bigger HD.
I bought an IBM 120 gig 7200 rpm.
I made a "boot" disc with evox and i followed the instructions.
But my very first and last problem is that my xbox won't boot the evox menu in combination with the new hd...
With the old HD installed everything works fine, and the cd boots with no problem.
Is there anyone with an xecuter chip and a bigger hd who can explain to me how it is done??
Thx and gtx Killa

Read the tutorials on installation...on the main page.
Make sure the HDD is plugged in correctly, and that it's set to "master".
That is all.

The hard drive should be set to cs (cable select) and NOT master. Also, make sure that the new harddrive was formated correctly. below is the guide.http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install2.php

First of all thank you for replying to my topic,
I did read the tutorials...but the thing is Evox Boot disc won't boot...that's the whole problem (it says nothing about that in the tutorial). It boots on the old HD without any problems i tried that. But with the new HD plugged in it will not boot....(yes all the cables are plugged in ok).
John Ferrel advised me to zero the IBM HD 120 gig i have with the tool from IBM, i will try that tonight. But in the tutorial it states that i don't need to zero.
Ok if someone has any othere suggestions they will be very welcome.
I will keep you posted.
Thx for the help so far ;-)

A guy I've spoken to on IRC has been having the same problem with an IBM 120 and a WD 120 gig drive, both with the xecutor 1 chip. He seems to know what he's doing bu hasn't yet managed to get it working, he gets an error which says the hard drive isn't locked.

If you zeroed the first 4096 bytes with harddrive prepare 1.3 and that doesn't work, try zeroing the entire drive. Since you say your evox disk boots with the old drive, the disk is not the problem. If after you tried all the above and it still doesn't work, maybe the mod chip you have doesn't support larger harddrives. There have been alot of xecuter clones sold and maybe you got a bum chip. I'm lost on this because I've probably done about 30 harddrive upgrades over the last month or so and have never had a problem. Sorry I couldn't help you more. I'll do some more research and if I run across a possible solution, I will pass it on to you. Good luck.

I used WinHex to zero out the first sectors of the Maxtor 30GB drive I'm using....
Worked like a charm.

Download the bios checker and run it on your box, if it's a proper x-ecutor it will say genuine x-ecutor. If it's a fake it will probably say unknown. The guy on IRC seems to have a fake. Does your modchip have writing on the black chips?

Hmm, it says unkown.....sh*t
does that mean that HD swop is not enabled....?
Thx for the help ;-)

I'd guess so - would be interesting to find out what the bios actually is, but that would be quite difficult. Where did you get the mod chip? does it have writing on the chips?

I have the same thing..executer chip with WD 120G HD..it works like a charm..you don't really have to zero anything guys..just use the new Evox HD format program and it should work like a charm...make sure you set up the Evox HD format program evox.ini file such ask the IP address before you burn it to CD-RW disk...

Well hello there,
I know what was wrong with my chip, it was not ok. It was not a genuine xecuter and did not support HD swap.
Toeter helpt me out (again) and he fixed it. He flashed my Tsop with evox and HD works a ok now ;-D :-D
So a big THANX to TOETER for helping me out ;-)
PS getting my BIOXX today ;-)

Sebene : I didn't do it with the xecuter, none LPC mods ( except for matrix ) can flash the TSOP. I uses an Enigmah for flashin the TSOP..

If it has writing on the black chips, it's probably a fake. You can also use the bios checker util, it should say genuine executor, not unknown.
