you need to find the hdkey for your new hd. you can find it by using liveinfo & your eeprom (from your backup folder, evox=>setting=>backup).

that doesnt make any sence since the ata controller is just sending an unlock command over the bus to unlock the drive, and all ata-6 drives confirm the ata-6 spec, then it whould be standardized, so it wouldnt be any differnt between drives...

The lock key IS drive specific. I have a lot of experience with softmods, what you need to do is get liveinfo and use the eeprom.bin that evox creates when you do a backup. you can then use liveinfo to generate the lock code for the new drive.

The Hard drive key is drive specific since the key is based on an algorithm that gets info from many parts of the xbox console and figures it out. including data from the soon to be unlocked drive. so when you replace the hard drive, the new drive WILL need to be locked with a different key.
Read the tutorials on this site i know they are their, ive used them

get unlockx and lock it. you need the hdkey to lock it so that it works on your xbox

. If you ran the backup option in evox before, there could be a folder call "backup" in that folder, there is the text file that has your hdkey. you can use that key with unlockx to lock the hd. or if you ran backup option in evox or in configmagic or you saved the eeprom of your xbox, you can use liveinfo with your eeprom to find out the hdkey. then use that key to lock the hd.

if you plug the hd into a xbox and it loads like normally, it is locked unless you have a modchip. If that is the case, I wouldn't worry about configmagic

. however, I would backup that eeprom and and hdkey and save it somewhere.

indeed
but that list is outdated
two (newer) lists by ivc and lookformeb can be found in general HW tech chat in a pinned topic with a title on the topic of hdd lockablity.
these lists have submition forms
