Hello,
I have noticed an increase in user names with a 3 letters in brackets in front of there names, So im assuming that there are a few clans evolving.
I would like to know as much as I can so that If I can assist in any was to organise tourneys or anything else.
I would like to know the following things, If you could post as much info as possible that would be great, and also any sugestions of what XLink could do for you would be appriciated.
* What is your Clan name?
* How are you identified?
* What games do you play as a clan?
* How many members do you have? (aprox.)
* What Gaming Services do your clan use? (ie. Xlink/XB Connect/Gamespy/Warpipe etc.)
* What are your objectives? (ie. Just have fun/Create a force of unimanigable magnitude)
* Do you have a Clan website? (if you do please provide a URL)
* Do you have rival Clan(s)?
* When you recruit new members is it based more on skill or personality?
* If anyone wants to become a member of your clan how should they go about it?
plus anything else I may find useful.
please only answer the questions that you want to answer.
Many thanks
Taz

Sup taz,
Yeah - interest is picking up with the clans - as Kai will offer some pretty funky support for the stuff that they do.. for example:
Clan-specific parts of the arena tree... ie clan [XYZ] will get its own arena, with sub arenas for practice, tourneys, internal ladders etc. They will also get their own chatroom structures, with user control - all from within the client.
Clans will be able to create "cross-clan" arenas - arenas where only people from either clan A or B can meet and play. Sorta like a "war arena" ..
Of course, with the Kai UI SDK looming, I hope to see some pretty cool interpretations of the Kai ui - maybe even totally new concept UI's - made by clans.. The visual standard of a lot of the sites it excellent (http://wsd.hostlab.co.uk for example).
We've not just dived into this blindly too - we've asked for help from a few ppl who really know how the clans stuff works - and although we havent got anything down in concrete yet, its just a matter of time..
I think its a pretty exciting aspect of online gaming - and i think u guys could produce some pretty interesting stuff eventually - as you have xtag database access etc...

Nice one TD,
Sounds like Kai will bring a whole new xbox gaming expereance, for competitive play on all levels.
The thing I love most about xlink, is the community ideal and the way that the crew really listen to there user base.
before Xlink my on-line gaming expereance was on services like MSN Gaming Zone, Yahoo and Gamespy.
In my opinion they was all a little "large" ok you could get get to know a couple of people, but you would never get chatting to anyone who had anything to do with the development of the service.
Happy 2004 everyone

You know what, there should be a pinned thread showing all the clans available to join for each game on xlink. I think this would really jump start the development of clans and make xlink that much more competitive. Just an idea!

Well, I think I will start a clan. It's called Demon Hunters. If you want to be affiliated with the clan, go ahead and add _DH after ur kai beta name.
For example, mine's Frag_Daddy_DH. PM me if you want to join so i can get a list put together. Thx.

I represent the core of the Rainbow Six 3 xlink community. We have played with fragdad and chillinhh I'd like to bring to your attention who we are. Due to the release of xlink kai and the new means of connecting that kai has introduced we feel it is time to organize ourselves and make a permanent home for us in kai. We are the biggest group of Ranbow Six 3 players using xlink and possibly the largest group of players in xlink period (there may be a larger halo based group, but no offense, Halo has been played to death, get over it, Halo 2 will be out soon anyway :) ).
I'd like to point out several things that we have noticed. You mention the usage of abbreviations in front of names indicating clans. We have noticed this also but have also found that in the past few months some of the rooms with these abbreviations in front contain no one who is playing link games and that beyond "Is there a game going in here"? there is virtually no conversation going on. Why these people chose to stay idle, no one can say but them, perhaps they will post here soon. We have noticed that xlink users tend to be much more friendly, are less likely apply cheats, are less likely to build up animosity and less likely to feud and won't kick you from the room for minor offenses when compared to xbconnect. These are the reasons we choose xlink/xlink kai over other similar services.
*Our name is X-Rated
This comes from a joke about someone causing lag due to downloading porn while playing xlink. We don't exactly call ourselves a clan but we are a group. If "clan" is to be the generic term, then so be it.
*As of yet we do not identify oursevles by any type of abbreviations or special characters, instead we choose to preserve our own identities by using the existing xtags we have already been using, however most of us know each other by our Rainbow Six 3 Profile names.
*We mainly play Rainbow Six 3, this may change as other games featuring link play are released, a few other games we play are: Top Spin, GR, GRIT, PGR2, Crimson Skies, Sega GT Online, Links 2004, Corvette, XIII, CounterStrike, and Halo.
*We have aprox. 30-40 people that gravitate to the same rooms.
*Xlink, XBConnect, to my knowledge many of us haven't tried Warpipe or GameSpy.
*Pirmary Objective: Kill. Get the coolest looking final kill. Secondary Objectives: Kill more. Joke about killing, shoot the body after you've killed it. Drink and recreation. Don't get killed by dropknee. Blow stuff up.
*No website as of yet but i know you guys and girls are reading this reading this so if you don't make one my G36C is gonna make your RB6 experience very unpleasant. Bang, you're dead.
*No rivals really but we have alot of fun playing with TEAM PREMO wattup, SaD, silent killers, as for you fragdad what's that demon hunters thing, you know you're one of us :)
*If you don't have a mic we'll tease you until you get one. It's $30. If you don't have a mic but you do something funny or cool in the game or just kill alot. We are very fair but please don't be rude, especially to the ladies. If there is young person playing don't swear.
*Keep coming back to play.
We still mainly use rc4 but kai gets the thumbs up from us.
Thanks taz

Great first post.
do you want a X-Rated arena added to the Clan arena?
Plus I wouldnt mind running a ladder on my website for you group, It can be invitation only or open to anyone to join.
and I can have it so that you can host tournaments from there.
Perhaps I can nip in when a few of your group is on and have a chat about it.

Hi ||seven||,
Thanks for the interest - sounds good to me. However, if it's at all possible, could we wait until the 0004 beta before implementing your rooms layout? .. I'll explain why it would be better:
[WSD] is currently assisting me with the design for clans / playing groups - more than just arena structure - we're developing a totally integrated system - allowing a "clan leader" to have a web interface, allowing him to add / remove people from his group. The group's arena subtree will be access-controllable - ie you would be able to make sub arenas where only your group could go, etc. You will be able to dynamically create / remove arena trees, and control where people are permitted to make user arenas, etc. This is all coming in for 0004 - and I would much prefer to keep things slim until I can easily palm off responsibility for your bit of the arena to you

Dont take this the wrong way - im very grateful that you guys choose to play on xlink - im just to assert some sort of control, to try to make the progress towards the things described above as smooth as possible..
Im hoping 0004 shouldnt be long - theres nothing in there which sounds particularly problematic - but im not gonna try to give any sort of timescale - as ill just make an ass of myself - as usual

Cheers

I'm on the same page, we had no intentions of abandoning rc4 until a more complete version of kai. Thanks for the preview, it's lookin good. There are some things to be addressed as far as people seeing the servers in games and also being able to connect to the servers they see. Almost no one was connecting when a bunch of us tried it out. I hope the input helps

We don't mind you having a dual membership at all sabre. Welcome to X-Rated...
We enjoy a having a diverse group of players, our players mostly come from the U.S., Canada, England, and France, we have had some players play with us from Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, and Norway to name some countries. It is my hope that the Britons who play with us do not fall into UK or european only groups. I hope we can cobtinue to have fun, joke around and still play competitively without creating a rift between oceans/borders. As for Eddie's comment, he's always talking trash, but if you want to prove him wrong he's currently accepting challenges, in RB6 OR Halo.

I enjoy playing u guys, Ur alot more welcoming and funnier than what the Uk R63 scene has to offer.
Sometimes lag can become an issue and since i seem to have the highest ping most of the time i get kicked, but im happy to go and let Ntsc guys join.
Im not sure if i can have a dual membership with WSD and with X-Rated, ill ask Porsj (clan leader) c what he thinks. Maybe if u guys want we could hook each other up with as allies like WSD already has in their Halo Division (BBE etc)
Ill c what i can do and get some info for yas
anyways thanks for the games tonight, must dash to bed 6am and im tired thats Dedication for yas

The lag does become an issue at times no matter where people are from, usually when xlink is very busy, and people are moving in and out of rooms trying to join games. We do roll calls and sometimes kick people who seem to be idling in the room, but if someone is lagging us we usually give them a fair chance to deal with it or back out of the game themselves, boxorox and prestige are especially careful who they kick. If you notice we try to keep it under ten people.
Here are some tools to help rid us of the pesky lag

Ok you now have a website
http://www.xxxbox-rated.tkat the moment it is pointed at my Xleague website.
I plan to add a x-rated ladder so that you can have tournaments between yourselves or whetever you want, I will add that sometime this week.
If in the future you create your own website, i can change it so that this URL points at your site as opposed to mine.
at that point you can either keep the xxxbox-rated.tk or slowly migrate to your own domain name.
Please provide me with details you would like on your ladder and once up and running i can give ::Seven:: Head admin rights

Just to let u guys know, My pc is set to give the most out of the bandwith, No spyware, Diasabled norton antivirus and ive nothing open just xlink.
I think the main problem is with the Uk having much much lower upload speeds than over in the Usa, over here most ppl have around a 250.
But if I can get into a game and play without lag and someone else from the US after a few games it may start to cause the lag, so just let me know if u guys want me 2 leave but i love playing with u guys and i hope we can get X-RATED to be the Shizzle
