Hey...

I was wondering if anyone knew how to overclock PC's?

When i was at a lan party, my friend told me he got his 1.8 Ghz machine running at 2.6 Ghz, And i was wondering How i could overclock my 2.4 Ghz to run faster...

He just told me it has something to do with Bios =/

Ya, im lost here...

There are lots of good sites about over clocking (www.overclockers.com) but none tell you how to do it really, or not that I have found. There is a very good magazine out that is called PC Extreme that has a good guide. I will them in later, it seems very easy.

If you have a Pentium 4/2.4C ghz you are in luck. The 2.4C chips can be over-clocked to around 3.1/3ghz with the right cooling. Try searching google for more...

if you were really after overclocking then get AMD beerchug.gif

the furthest i could push a 1.8GHz p4 while retaining system stability tho was 2.4GHz so unless ur friend has watercooling, hes probably exaggerating.

as far as im concerned on most AMD chips the label gives you a relative measure of the top speed achievable. use any windows temperature checking program to check system stability, i reccomend speedfan, so that you can get an idea of how far to go.

one of these systems have been pushed up to 4.0GHz although sold at 3.5GHz and standard at 3.06
