I see you can download firmware for the philips drive - any idea what this does?

Its been available for some time but I dont know why. It could be useful though if someone could figure out a drive that used the same chipset as the philips in our xbox, maybe there would be a replacement for the 616 that woldne be so dmn expensive.

I have tryed to update my philips with that firmware using mtkflash without any success (the programm do nothing).
I have tryed mtkwinflash under winxp : I have an error.
Now it can read nothing at all
Any solution please

the firmware isn't for updating. it was saved from the drive in hope a pc-dvd that uses the same parts could be found and converted like the 616t.

With witch software we have extract this firmware from philips drive ?
I have no success with MTKFLASH.

Do you know others softwares ?

why would you want to? the firmware is already available for download and is the same as the one (that was?)in your drive!

reading your previous post, i would hazard a gues that you have killed your philips!

Yes, MKTFLASH hangs and I have to stop it (CTR-C)
under winxp, MTKWINFLASH (and windows) can not find my philips and if I force, I have an error : flash type not reconized
However, the bios have detect correctly the drive.

Now in the xbox, I have always "No Disc" !

perhaps the firmware I have downloaded (from www.CNN.com) is for the old philips (my xbox is from 24-03-2003)

can any one give me his philips firmware ?

Is there an alternative to MTKFLASH ?
