This thread is for you users out there to offer your opinions as to what you would like to see in the next release canidate.
Please note that i will not accept any negative attitude, whinning, bitching or moaning over anything, and it will be deleted immediately. Post constructive opinions only.
Also keep in mind that using the latest souces has obviously already been considered, so you need not offer that suggestion.

an option to adjust the analog stick sensitivity would be nice

Jan 6 2004, 02:17 PM
It was going to be in the first public version but oDD did not want to delay the release any further.
Would it be possible to not show the configuration screen when selecting the rom, and just play the game after the initial configuration? Like have configuration as a separate button or something...
Great work.

Save game manager is probably the only big thing really needed with controller senstivitly asking for anything else like the abilty to download game saves or Xlink support is just pushing it i feel. You could also add headset support for Hey you pikachu i guess aswell its not really that important.

get the controller config to actually work in game. I cant get it to work. It saves and then wont use that config.
that and more compatibility is all I want.

Two things I'd like to see:
1) Support for multiple Mempacks, so I could rebuild my WWE No Mercy roster to the heights of it's glory.

2) Make the in-game menu (right thumb menu) less graphic intensive *if* it will cut down on memory usage to do so. It eats about half a meg or more now when you access it, and this can be enough to crash a game. If there's nothing that can be done here, I understand.

First on my list is support for the diagonals when the C-buttons are mapped to one of the analog sticks. That is to say, diagonal left up would be like pressing left-C and up-C at once. That would allow for true dual-look controls in games like Goldeneye (though now you can use the D-pad for movement, which does work well, but the analog stick would be most comfortable).

Hello

, Surreal is way kool. I would like 2 c an option for the screen size adjustment. Also like the other emus the resolution/pixel frame option also would be nice. Hey while u're @ it network option would be the bomb. Online play with other people using the n64 games that'll be awesome.

Ok maybe just a question. The stars that show what emu runs the game the best. How can you set this say for example "GAME A" runs on 1964 the best is there anyway you can manually put the star on that emu it runs on the best?

On the whole I think it is amazingly good and have no real complaints or moans (how could I)
the only thing on a wish list would be maybe a few more video plugins if it would help some of the graphical glitch's in some games.
But I know so little about that type of thng I dont know if it would make a diffrence.

"use this controls for all players" and "Reset all controls to default"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I want to edit the controls of a special game, I have to edit it 4 times because there are 4 controllers/player. An option like "use this controls for all players" would be nice.
Furthermore I would suggest a "Reset all controls to default" option.
frame limiter
----------------
Another suggestion may be a frame limiter that can be turned on and off. As an example 30fps for NTSC because if you play GTA 3 on the PC you notice that with framelimiter on it play better and subjectively faster.
As an example: Sometimes a game has like 60fps and then one second later only 35 and it appears as a little slowdown. With the framelimiter on this wouldn't be so.
8-way C-Stick (the yellow buttons)
--------------------------------------------
If you play Goldeneye and use the 1.2 Solitaire control setting you will move forward/backward and strafe left/right with one controlstick(the yellow buttons).
But if you want to circle around an enemy you have to pull lets say both C-Up and C-Left. You can't to this with the "yellow buttons controlstick" because it has only 4 direction at the moment.
I hope you could understand what I want to point out cause I'm pretty bad in speaking or writing enlish freely. (I'm german

)
Edit:
just two more
Backgroundmusic like in the Xport Emus would be sweet.
And I accidentally switch between Mempack and Rumblepack when I make stunts in Waverace. Maybe you could add an option to configure the button wich makes the switching happening.
Edit2:
Zelda Masterquest Boxart is missing.

You know how some games have the star thingy on the most suitable emulator, how about once we have a more complete compatability list that we get that on for most/all games that work..... thats not relly a suggestion i know,
But once that is implemented, we could have an option to do away with the core selection screen and let the emulator choose which core is best for each game.... (But the star thing is good enough for me)
EDIT:: Just saw the post about hitting Y, top stuff!!Another thought - the save/load state thing.... maybe its just me being a dumbass, but its been an ongoing thing with me and emulators, when i get really far in a game and go to save state, i've lost count of how many times i have mistakenly chosen to load instead and lost all my hard work, same works in reverse, i screw up and then go to load my last good save, but i overwrite it by mistake......lol... so we could have and "are you sure" type dialogue come up?..... (Just noticed that mempaks and eeproms are supported, so this doesnt really make much difference any more

)
Most important one.... can you make it do my housework?

I'm just getting picky, but would zip support (haven't downloaded it yet, or read the readme's, so it may be supported) or System Link support be hard to impliment?
#xlink-messenger and talk to Jmel if you're looking for some info on how to add it. Jmel will forward you to the appropriate parties.
Hell...just talk to Lantus...I think he's already spoke with the correct people on how to impliment System Link into xSNES9x...

Great emu imho! Congrats everyone!
Suggestions:
1. Autoload last save made... i know its picky but this is one of the greatest features of xports emus and would be very handy!
2. Option to change controll volume in the emu... Some games play very quite for some reason!
3. When you select a rom from the main menu have it autoload with the emu that has the Star in it!
4. As said: Analogoue sensitivity!
5. Ability to save states without using the menu (e.g. both triggers and black to save and both triggers and white to load.)
Thanks for this release again, they're my suggestions!

SAMBA or RELAX share support. As mentioned above, I don't want to have to keep duplicate copies of my roms. I have them all in one nicely organized, raid-5 storage space now.

I would like the ability to disable controllers.
For example, if you are playing Star Fox on a true N64, and select VS, character/vehicle select only appears for the controllers that are currently plugged in.
I'm assuming that Surreal 64 acts as though the controllers are always plugged in, because selecting VS. mode in Star Fox 64 brings up 4 selection screens no matter how many controllers are plugged in. So if I want to play 2 player VS. Star Fox I have to switch my xbox controller and hit start for the missing players, and then have two ships randomly flying acrossed the screen.
By the way, on a scale from one to awesome, Surreal 64 is SUPER GREAT.

1. ability to choose between rumplepak and controller pak before the game starts so this enables rumple suport by default for all games
2. analog sensitivity
3. preset config settigns for each popular game
4. vsync

I get an error from msdash when quitting from main menu - no error when quitting from in game menu though - oh and of course analogue sensitivity.
but if nothing gets changed or there are no further releases i'll still consider it the best emu on xbox. surreal64 devs rock!

hi i think it would be ice if there could be an adaptoid plugin included to the emu.
So that we can use hour real N64 controller on the xbox.

This EMU is great a masterpiece
Ability to resize the main menu for older TVs. On my TV on both Letterbox and Normal settings (in MSDash settings) the right side of the menu is cut off, almost completely covering the buttons on the right side of the screen.
I'm not having this problem with any other peice of Xbox software.
Other then that...and the little things that have already been brought up such as the Multi-Player functions, Master Quest box art, etc. this is the best thing to hit the scene since PSCXbox.
Beautiful UI (Which makes ALL the differance in the world!), great stability, and, so far...I've been able to load up and play about 90 of my roms. that's pretty damn good!

Yes! I have mentioned that several times over the last year, but not enough people have an adaptoid to get the attention of the devs... And finding an open-source adaptoid plugin might be tough too. They would have to buy an adaptoid and code it from scratch more than likely

I know that Windows XP can map it w/o drivers, don't know how much help that can be, but give hope to those willing to try to code it in.
I one of the lucky owners of an adaptiod and would LOVE to be able to use it. It's been sitting in a box for over a year now :-P

Analog Sensativty support, better emulation speeds on some titles such as Perfect Dark and 007(IF AT ALL POSSIBLE).
And DOOM 64 I WANT IT SO BAD!

I really can't think of anything to say, so I'm Really impressed, can't wait to see it when RICE is a little more polished (I has advanced A LOT already) and when it is updated to the latest 1964 core.

True, sort of. It is using DirectX drivers included with windows... It requires DirectX8 or above if I remember from back in the day... Since the Xbox XDK has a lot of DirectX extensions, it is possible to make the plugin, but like I said, the devs would need an adaptoid and enough demand to justify writing the plugin...

Don't know if its possible, but would be interesting the option to have an MP3 track playing on the main menu, to make things even more alive.
Another one is the option of an "Turbo" button, ideal to pass those boring moments in certain games if you know what i mean.
On a side note, i know that for some games without sound 1964 uses now on PC one plug in, from Azimer, i think, that is only for those kind of games, An no sound specific plug in. Not sure if its open source and the real name now, but could be a thing to look.
As soon i have more time to play with the emu i will try to make more stuff.

edit: yes, resize screen option and analog tweak option would be cool also ^^

and my suggestions are something for the C buttons, does anybody know how to change the camra angle in super mario world?
i posted then i read the above post and i have to say yes, absolutly a turbo button. waiting through those long game story vids is a little irritating

most roms dont play at 87fps.
2xSAI is quite a cpu intensive software filter. We are much better off allowing DirectX hardware to deal with filtering and keep as much CPU free for emulation

first off, i just want to say that this emulator is great. i love it, and thanks so much for bringing it to all of us.

first, concerning the controller configuration (and being able to save it), adding more customization. for example, splitting the layout of the joysticks so you could make left and right be the C buttons, up and down be the axis, and the diagonals used for pressing both. it would prove to be useful in some games, mainly fps's
it'd also be great to add some type of picture, like the star, to show that a game has crashed using a certain emulator.
more compatibility.
once again, nice job guys!

Thx for the release, it's awesome. Well, I've already mentioned this before. I think it would be a great idea to add compatible save states and files between the 3 emulators. That way, if one emulator freezes up on you, you can continue with the next. I guess a save file manager would do the trick, but if you do it with a save file manager, be sure to add a converter to switch between pj66/1964 and ultrahle saves. Alright thx alot, I would appreciate if things could be implemented into the emu!,
Ed_209
Jan 7 2004, 12:10 AM
Can you add a feature so the emulator will remember which roms DON'T load? For example, if you try to load up a certain game with ULTRAHLE and it doesn't load at all, make it show a RED "X" or frown face or something to show you that your xbox will crash if you select that plugin using that rom.
Also is there any way you can put in some sort of "crash protection" ? Like right when the emulator notices that the xbox is running completely out of memory have it reset back to the rom list? Having that in combination with it showing what plugins failed to work would be great! I have been toying with this emulator a lot lately and it would be nice to not have to get up to reset my crashed xbox every other time I attempt to load a new game. Thanks for the great work!

1) analog sensitivity

3) function so emu reset to menu in case of crash
4) throttle
5) less intensive save state menu

Great work so far, awesome job for a first release!!
Most everything has been mentioned I think.. SAMBA/Relax/CCXstream support would be first on my list.
As far as the compatibility lists I'm sure that will be refined over time as more ppl try more games and settings.. but once you get a complete list, maybe you could make a DAT file for ClrMame

As far as coding a plugin for that n64 controller adapter.. I don't have one but if you added support i would definitely get one!

love the emu guys, great work
few things, some more important than others i guess
8 way C buttons
frameskip button or as some say turbo (maybe it'd lock it up on some games from loading too much at a time?)
gameshark or mem editor...not sucky, for example, there is a code for wave race that gives you an insane amount of turbo speed using the R shoulder... kicks ass for jumps
and few other games had some neat codes to make game interesting again
analog sensitivity
i know i've left out a few things but i can't think of em atm, probably in list of suggestions already but i forgot to 2nd em

prefer to see those over menu music and stuff cuz i prefer performance in game over ui stuff
and again, terrific job on the emu

Option to have a ROM default load from a selected plug-in. My stupid friends launch a game and don't know what to do when presented with 3 different options. Possibly under the ROM specific settings. Then when you launch a ROM, it will load the plug-in that you picked out rather than present the three to choose from.
