I've been bugged with this for some time now, so i thought i would ask here.
i wrote a evox cd on cdrw but now a want to erase the cdrw again but i can't.
since win doesn't recognize the disk it won't read it so nero won't let me rease it.
clonecd won't eighter.

with cdmate i get a bit further, i use these settings:
tried both complete mode and quick mode
checked Ignore illegal TOC
checked Unconditional erase

and then i get this error: Sence key: 02 ASC: 57 ASCQ: 00

So, should i be able te erase it or is the cdrw wasted... (hope not as it didn't work in the first place because my xbox wouldn't take the brand).

When you burn something for Xbox, the session must be closed, so there, you can't erase it. At any rate, isn't it CD-RW's are cheap enough to merit posting a question? , just curious, no pun intended.

actually no.

cd-rw's can be erased.

close session only means no data can be appended to the existing data without doing an erase.

i use the same cd-rw over and over again for all of my evox/homebrew needs and there hasn't been any trouble.


ergo don't pay any attention to the previous post from the guy saying you just lost a rw disc.

why in god's name would you not be able to erase a closed session cd... duh... if it's on cdrw it can be erased or it would need to have serious damage to the disck so that it's no longer recognized... i'm not stupid... (at least i don't think i am )

the only fact is that the cd is not recognized (as win doesn't support xudf, correct my if i'm wrong with the type of disk) so i am not able to erase...

what prog do you use to burn and erase?

i use recordnow max to burn the images.
but i also gdfimage the iso.

burning in data mode, although better than xISO, makes too much thrashing for my taste.

sometimes, though, when the files on the cd are not so big, it gives me read errors, usually on tiny apps.

so in that case i just ftp them to HD and run from there. either way you're set.
