How does it look (besides the subpar image quality)?

I should get a better camera...anyways now my controller lights up almost the whole room even in the pitch black biggrin.gif. I prefer to take out the little disc under the dome so you can see the insides of the controller, and they look cool when they are lit beerchug.gif

pretty good work, i would love to do this except i cant get the jewel off my controller sad.gif
Emohnke
yeah getting the jewel off is a bitch. I have 2 fat controllers and my other one's jewel just wouldn't budge. This one took a while but it finally came off.
Zero_Cool
I like it, but you should look into making a jewel for it, i did on mine and i love it, although when i did an led in the button mod i rendered it useless and havent found time to try and fix it, i still love to show it off, yours would be awesome if you had like a biohazard symbol on it or sumthin, but heres mine

Hope you decide to make one, cuz i love how its lookin now
Xboxman20
HTwey are both cool I just am waiting for leds to get her another week sad.gif
Emohnke
good advice, when I think about it a biohazard symbol would be cool. I don't really know where I can get controller jewels, anyone know? It would be awesome if there is a place I could order one, although I guess I could measure the right diameter and dust up on my Photoshop skills as well...thanks.
Zero_Cool
there real easy to make yourself,
what i did is i scanned in my old jewel, used that for sizing, drew out the flames and zero then scanned that and resized it then i made it black and white, got some clear mail label stickers for laserjet printers then printed it, worked out great!

---EDIT---
I acctually wrote a rather in depth tutorial a while back on it if you wanna search for it.
burning warrior
bloody nice job mate what type of LEDS u use
bloody cool
Emohnke
Maybe I'll try that I just gotta get my scanner working wink.gif

I used three 5mm green LED's from LSDiodes
Zero_Cool
lsdiodes is the best, me 2, and i used them for everything else on my xbox, i used radio shack led's on my playstation and they blew, go to lsdiodes!!!
i.stole.this.name
LEDs can blow :S well only if u dont use the correct resistor...

i got a CCFL in my ps2 Grill.... thats about the most modding ive done (well and a messiah chip).

ps2 nice an quiet, xbox injured rhino, but a nice fan mod shud fix that, so i will biggrin.gif

can u play without staring at the controller?
Emohnke
I'm using a 100ohm resistor so my LED's should be fine right? Anyways it lights up my face while I'm playing biggrin.gif but I can still use it it's not hard at all.
Blink182house
I did that EXACT thing dude, just put green led's (also from LSdiodes, but mine were 3mm). But then I fried some components using a 40w soldering iron too long and the controller spazzed out.
GRIlVlLOCK
FYI, the easiest way to get the jewel off a fatty controller is take it apart, then, holding the front plastic just like you're playing a game, start twisting the handles and you'll see the glue under the edge of the jewel turn white as it breaks loose...

takes about 5 seconds to get it off wink.gif

just don't twist the front of the controller too hard or you risk breaking it...
El Hefe
looks pretty cool man. props

I got my jewel off by opening the controller up, and then dremmeling off that little tab that is at the bottom on the back. After that i just stabbed a flat head screwdriver in there and pushed the jewel off.

/ that's a godo idea Dan too bad I didnt think of that rotfl.gif

Looks great. A jewel would make it look much better though. smile.gif
