I turned mine on (just bought a used one) and it seems to be very loud. Its almost as loud as my PC, and I wouldn't think that a game machine should be noticeable at all. Anyone else have a loud machine, or know what to do about it? Thanks.

well version one boxes are pretty loud as they have an extra fan. Newer xbox's are much quieter although it still have the 5 v fan in the back and the Hdd which may be noisy. I dont have the tutorial on hand but u can go into the tutorials case mods and then to how to silence the xbox. So that should do it if its to load they will say put a piece of sheet cork in there or somin along those lines. Also if someone put a new hdd in there that would be noiser so just put arubber band to hold the hdd to the case. Also the 12v fan mod would increase noise. Hope this helps

It all depends on what fan you mod your xbox with. Some 12v fans are of better quality, and are of lower decible. I have three fans in my xbox, and it get's loud. Fortunately the surround sound drowns it out.

open your case and clean out all the SHIT around your fans and air-flow areas. Just use compressed air. You can get a can at Staples for like 3 bucks. A ton of dust can clog a fan and make is sound like, and be as slow as shit.

Cool, thanks guys. I may try some lower RPM fans in there, and I'll definitely clean it out.
