Installed new 250GB Maxtor Drive. I've tried both 4979.06 and 4979.67 bios but cannot see more than 121GB on drive F. I've enabled drive G but still cannot see anything on it.

What's going on?

All other info is i my sig.

Thanks.

Enabling the G drive is not enough. You need to format it and you enable it.

Whats a good tut on formatting?

I don't want to use 'G', only 'F'. I just enabled 'G' to see if I could see the rest of it.

But I only want to use 'F'.

Would EvoX's "Install New Drive" option work?

Are there any tuts available for using XBTool to patch my bios for LBA48?

After I patch with XBTool do I still need to import the bios into Xecuter BIOS manager?

Thanks.
moistness
shit dude you just tick the box!
jcbuche
Was that supposed to be helpful?

What do you mean "tick the box"?
moistness
::sigh, spoon feeding again::

Open bios in xbtool

TICK THE BOX THAT SAYS LBA48 SUPPORT (duh!!)

save bios

SEARCH MORE!
jcbuche
Yes, I've tried that.

The LBA48 check box is greyed out!

This is what it looks like...

He's right. The reason you can't is probably because you are using a version of the bios that has that built in like 4979 or greater. You already have support built in.
jcbuche
It must not be built in cause I can't see my 250gb drive, only 121gb or so.

What bios do you have?

Your sig says 4979.67, you dont need to patch that bios with xbtool, its already there. Are you aware that that bios uses a 7th partition for the space above 137gig? So you need to format 'G' for that bios.

If you flash 4979.06, the space doesnt just 'show up', you need to format the F drive again.

Wish someone would have said that from the beginning, thanks heinrich.

One more thing, I used this guide to partition the first time. Will this work for partitioning the 'F' drive again?

Thanks again.
heinrich
Yes, just format partition6 again, AFTER you have 49xx.06 on there.
jcbuche
You da man heinrich, thanks.
