Which is better?
Best Buy has the HP for $239 after rebates.
EsBuy.com has the Pioneer for $238
What would you do?

I got my hp dvd200i for $60 after rebate. It's been good so far but the media is expensive. You can find the Pioneer A04 for about $150 now. I would go with the pioneer if you plan to do a lot of burning bevause the media can be had for 1/3 the price.
My brother got the A04 for $199+100 discs for $90=289
I got the HP for $60 +100 discs for $272 = 332
He paid more upfront but it has been cheaper in the long run for him.
Until the +rw media prices go down I would go for the Pioneer -rw

if by pioneer you mean hp, then yes.
dvd+r is such a better format.
