Hey fellow forum warts, it's MC with some new pictures! I finally tracked down my friend with the slick digital camera and took a few shots of my baby in action. Be aware that the images of the red CC appear a bit orange, and this is NOT the case in real life - it's bright, bright red, but no matter what camera I shoot the CC with, it always appears orangeish. Weird eh? Anyway, here you go:

Well, the fan is clear, so if you look at it from behind, it's red. I was planning on having the fan use a second CC for light, but the CC is too large to fit - I'd have to do some cutting of the metal casing. I'm not down with that, I really like the way the fan mounts as it is.

I like that case!!! Is it only the Samsungs that you can open up like that?? How does the DVD drive read being all opened up?? any problems in bright lighting etc?

To answer your questions, it can be done to any DVD drive, the discs read just as an enclosed drive, and there aren't any problems in bright lighting at all.

About the red cold cathode, it's a ring CC placed directly underneath the jewel. It's just a bit larger than the jewel's circumferance [sp?], and it fits in there perfectly with some hot glue.

hey what length is your round IDE cable? I have a silver 36" one crammed in my xbox, and I think it's time for a shorter one now that I have a little more money. I think I'll put the 36" in my computer. BTW, nice job on the box, the lighting looks great, I kinda wish I got a red LED fan now (I haven't ordered my cathode yet, so I could still throw the blue one in my computer which hasn't had a power supply fan for a couple months, and buy a red one instead), red would probably go nicer with my design...

The IDE cable I used is about a foot and a half long. How in the hell did you fit a 36 incher in there? lol damn...

What do you guys use to cut the openings so cleanely and what are you using for that clear window?

I will probably do the Wht/Blue motif, but would like to have the open DVD also.

Dremel and plexi-glass.

Haha - you made me nervous for a sec there. I'm not really sure why my mouse appears reddish and the box doesn't. Maybe it's because the mouse is illuminated with red plastic, and the CC is lit with red spray paint? I don't know. But the CC IS red, and even though I'm in the process of doing a painting/acrylic overhaul on my case, hopefully once I'm done, I'll be able to figure out how to fix the settings on the camera.

The jewel can take one coat of Krylon Fusion and be both opaque [when light is shone on it from above] and translucent [when a light is lit beneath it]. There's a tut on it somewhere - do a search.

where can one purchse Krylon Fusion paint? lol
