i simply want to rip games to my pc so if i have an enigmah x chip and run the evolution x software can i do this without cutting the wires. if i install the default dash and rename it can i still play burned games on the xbox or will i have to put the original xboxdash.xbe back on. and if all goes wrong will i be able to get back into the harddrive and put the original .xbe on.

I don't have any probs, just use x-over cable and ftp progrm. Ensure you have correct ip settings. no need to cut wires.

"cutting the wires"? you're probably talking about flashing the tsop..
you only need to do that if you want to install a bigger hard drive.
you can send the game files to your computer easily with an ftp
program and evox. BACKING UP your drive is a GOOD idea..
