I get 1mB/sec it takes me 1000 seconds to get a GB on to the xbox harddrive(example not accurate)
how do I speed up the transfer. I tried some suggestions like change the cable, software, update drivers, etc.
those didnt help and it takes some time to transfer data to the hard drive.
any suggestions?

What program are you using to transfer?
If you aren't using FlashFXP.. I suggest switching to it, just to give it a shot. Some members get a huge increase in speed just by switching FTP programs.
Edit: Just for reference, I disconnect from the net, turn off my firewalls, and use FlashFXP. I get speeds averaging 8,500 KB/s.

check the tutorials section
i'm not sure but you go into winxp and go into your connections and go to their properites
then you click on some tab (i forget but it's in the tutorial) and change it from auto to 100

Also make sure that your NIC's (or whathaveyou) drivers are updated, that was my problem.
