hey ya'll... I was installing the updated Evo BIOS and while messing around with my system I ran an unknow .xbe file from one of the games on my HD, and oh crap.. it was the executable to update the dashboard with XBox Live functionality.. so next time I booted, I booted into that dashboard with my modchip enabled.. I don't have XBox Live yet, but I've heard a couple people say that if you load the dashboard with your mod chip enabled, it will later send that info to MS and ban you.. is that the situation I'm in right now?.. and does anyone know how to prevent this if it is.. will reinstalling the old MS dashboard erase any memory of me booting with my mod chip enabled... any help would be appreciated..
Thanks

well, I was under the impression that it was your HDD code, along with a couple other things that was sent to MS... This info could be sent once I buy an XBox Live account.. how about another question... is this thing I've heard about your dashboard keeping a memory of you booting up with a mode chip enabled true?.. and if so, how do you erase that memory.. can anyone point me to a FAQ on this or something.. or a forum that addresses this...

I am wondering the same thing myself..
I updated the the xbox live dash and accidently ran it while the matrix was on.
I am told that it patched the EEProm and if I now buy and run xbox live I will be banned (it seems off that MS can do this. If I am going to be banned for running a legal mod in this country then XBox live should be forced to tell me so rather then wait till I spend 69 Euro and then ban me anyways. The small print might state that you can not use a modded console on live but does it state you can not use a console that was previously modded?? Anyways...)
I have a backup of the EEProm made with Evox on the first day I installed my matrix long ago. If I restore this to the EEProm and then only use the Xbox Live when the mod is switched off am I ok? Anyone have any ideas on this? I am intrested in the xbox live beta but not intrested enough to spend 69 euro to be told I am banned.
Whilst I can see MS's points behind all this banning the way they go about it is a little annoying. They state its to prevent people using cheats etc but then they aggressively ban any box that has ever had a mod on and ran xbox live dash (to my knowledge). If your mod is off, you can't be cheating so banning boxs can only be about punishing those people that might have ran illegal software on their box. Not particually sound business practice when it would have been a viable reason for many to buy original software..

so we think here that if I refash my old EEProm image to be on the safe side then everything should be ok?
I would be supprised MS would be as aggresive as banning xboxs that had only accessed the live dash with a mod activated but not the actual service. I have not seen the terms of service but I am told it says modded boxes can not be used. Does it state that any previously modded xbox can't be used? If not then I can't see how they can be banning them before you even go online with the service.

also, using EEpromer v0.4 By Superfro
when I flash the rom back from z:/eeprom.bin
should I get some kind of message of success?? It just dumps me back to the EEPromer menu without saying anything so I kind of doubt it actually flashed it...
I have the bin the correct name and on Z drive so not sure whats going on..

It says to put the eeprom.bin on Z drive and then press B on the menu. I do this and then hold both triggers and B again but it seems to do nothing. I would imagine it would say it flashed ok rather than dumping back to its menu...
I tried the 'backup' option and it worked no problem..
Any ideas??

Hey, I'm the orginal poster to msgs 1 and 4... So me simply upgrading to the xbox live dashboard and running it with my mod activated should mean that I will be banned if I attempt to connect to xbox live??.. I, unfortunately, didn't backup my eeprom or anything.. is there a way I can look at my eeprom to tell if I'm actually banned.. I think I did see a post on this at some point but I forget where.. can anyone point me to a place that describes this in detail.. or explain it to me now?..
Thanks

NO!
Any attempts at connection with the mod chip enabled bans the box not the account.
E.G.
Hitting the Live Tab
Updating content in game
Connecting in game
Using the XBLive TEST CD.
Etc.

I am aware of this. What the question is if there is a way to remove whatever has been flagged on the xbox before I connect to xbox live. Currently MS don't know I have accessed the Live dash with the mod enabled. When I connect they will find out unless there is a way to remove what has been set. They could only have possibly set the flag in a few ways so I am wondering if anyone knows yet how to remove it?
Thanks

does anyone have an answer on what to do if you hit the Xbox Live Tab while the mod was on but without a kit. I know it will probably ban me if I use live but is there a way to reset whatever MS has flagged on my box. IF they have???

chances are its storing the info in files on the hard drive..
if you're really desparate, and dont have any other solution... formatting the hard drive should probably get rid of it?
ofcourse you'd still need a backup of your original C:/E: files

hey there.. I'm the starter of this thread btw, and I thought someone may be interested to know that I appear to be unbanned. When I started the dashboard I never did open the xbox live option so maybe that's why my xyz code isn't effected. So I did check the other day and my xyz code is a follows
X:0000-F001
Y:00A8-4860
Z:8015-1917
which is the same code that's been posted on that pinned topic on the "xyz code being cracked" for unmodified and unbanned boxes... so it looks like loading the dashboard with your modchip enabled doesn't effect you, but maybe opening the xbox live menu will get you screwed...
