ok heres the deal. ive had my modchip for about a year and its worked fine, with the only problem being it come off alignment every so often. i thought thats what happened this time but it wasnt the case. it was perfectly lined up and working but i still get the customer support screen. i tried every mode on the matrix and still got the same result. i thought it might be my hard drive so i put my original hard drive back in and still got the same result. i was just wondering what you all think might be the problem and what i could do to fix it.

thanks

I have also had my Matrix chip installed for about 1 1/2 years. I figured it was about time to upgrade my hdd. I have a 1.1 box, I tried to flash bio with slayers which only supported 1.2 + 137 HDD support. Didn't work for my 1.1 so I removed chip and installed X2 4981.06 using FlashPack and Parrallel programmer, installed a driver, as no other program would work for me. Now, I can't seem to align my matrix chip, I don't know what could have happened, since it was working perfectly before I removed it. It almost looks like the DO point is discolored? Slight brown coloration, ??????? Can anyone suggest any options I might want to consider? I have cleaned all of my contact points with Alcohol, still only flashes red in test mode. Sucks cause I just got a 200 GB HDD, and now I can't even use my previously installed 120GB. Can I solder, maybe upgrade chips?, flash TSOP? I don't know what to do, life without the xbox sucks................

Just keep trying or get rid of that matrix you can find a cheap alternative in buy and sell if you do get it fixed you it will eventually get disaligned again

Ok, It has been so long I forgot which version I had, turns out it is a 1.0. I can't even boot my xbox with the chip not installed? Should I be able to or not? The disk was created using Slayers 2.5, so it has the MS original dash. I am wondering, is it the chip fried or my xbox fried? The only thing I can think of I did wrong was to flash the bios in mode 1 (both on) and flash it with the bios that was designated as 137+ for version 1.2 and above. I flashed mine with it just to see if it would work. Didn't work after the flash, so I got 4981.96 and flashed it with the programmer. Still couldn't get aligned so I reflased with Evox D.6, still nothing. This is where I am now, I have been considering touching up the lpc points with some solder, but does anyone think it will really help? or does it sound like there is more to it, like a fried box or chip??? Thanx

I think your problem is becuse yopu hdd is modified and you donot have ms dash in place try a hotswap with your pc and get the hdd back to normal or buy a locked hdd from buy and sell and try that

Can I use any original HDD from any Xbox??? If so, I guess I can figure out if it is the box or the chip? If the box, guess I will have to wait until the price goes to $99. Hope it does

NO it has to be an unlocked hdd with all the partitions in place

OK, check this out......... I installed chip in my buddies 1.1 box and got it aligned in about 10 seconds. I did this without the washer/place holder that comes with the Matrix. Idea.....I reinstalled chip on my box without the washer and it instantly turned green for me. Now when I have the chip in test mode(both switches on) I get an Error 16 on the screen. But hey, atleast I have a picture and a green light....... When I flip the dip swithes to normal mode the xbox reboots 3 times with a green LED on the front of the box, then it goes to a constant red and green flash with no display on the screen. I reflashed my bios to 4978.06 for 135+ HDD support. Also on my friends 1.1 box I installed my chip and my HDD, he received a error 13, and then an error 14 on the second attempt to boot. I tried inserting Slayers 2.5 but his DVD drive was unable to recognize the CD-RW. HELP!!!

Will the 4986.06 bios support my 120 GB hdd? or do I need to revert to an old BIos???

I took off the washer/place holder that came with the matrix. It instantly went green. But I was getting an error 16 so I reflashed to the original bios that was intended for the matrix, something like Evolutionv2.5 256k.bin...... aligned the chip and I was back in business. Flashed to 4977*C* and put in a 200 GB harddrive and formatted using Slayers. Now, my question is how do I Transfer files with only one xbox from my old 120Gb to my new 200 GB? I tried to use FatBox 1.4 and put the hdd in a pc, but it wouldn't recognize the partitions on the drive. It also said to put the xbox drive on master and the pc drive on slave???? does this make any sense?? Any other ways to do this with only one modded box??
