I'm writing a manual for actionscripts, and cannot decide whether I should aim it at people who already know programming, or for complete newbies (i.e. teach the basics such as variables, looping and decision-making)

Just a thought...

Even though the source for any actionscripts is readily available and you can figure stuff out by looking at the work of others, I say teach the basics like you said. Cause in the end you'll wind up having people post those kinda help questions anyways.

I'd say write for newbies, myself, but keep the sections separated. Like have a beginner's section and an advanced section, and explain what a conditional is in the beginner's section and how to do it in the advanced section. That may be more work, though. :/
