What you need:
Original Mech assault game
Mech Eurasia
Soldeirng Iron
Solder
Torx 20
Tork 10

***************************************************************

Step 1:
Open the xbox. Remove the hdd and the dvd drive. So that you are exposing the mother board. (Click here for how to open)

***************************************************************

Step2:
Identify your motherboard tsop bios size. Easy to do. Look at the following images. Identify which Power supply connector you have.

If this image is yours. This means your bios size NEEDS to be 1mb. You have a V1.0 or 1.1.
user posted image
NOTE: If your motherboard has a fan on it then you have a 1.0 if not you have a 1.1.

Or if you have this one. This means your bios size needs to be 256k. You have a V1.2+
user posted image

Now you know whether you need a 1mb or 256k bios. You also now know what version you have. or pretty close to which versio.

***************************************************************

Step 3:
Now you need to write enable the tsop. This is where soldering skills are required. There are alternative ways to do this without using solder. But they are not as reliable (trust me I have teste). Remember step 2? this is where you will need to know your xbox version.

Versions 1.0 and 1.1 need to solder these points.
user posted image
Top of the board. Join point R7D3.

Point Number two. Bottom of the motherboard. This requires removing the board. Sorry...
user posted image

WARNING!!!! If your tsop on a v1.0 or v1.1 mother board is a sharp tsop. You will need to add some wires for a temp bridge.
user posted image
READ ME:
* if sharp here's what you do
* first solder a wire to each of these two extra points.
* boot up like normal.. goto the evo-x dash setu form my game save.
* twist the two wires togethor and go flash.
* power off and untwist
* should work
* if you plan to upgrade your tsop flash. i'd recomend installing a switch. leave off at all tiems unless you are flashing. then follow above steps. but using a switch instead of twisting.

(thanks aaron)
---------------------------------

Versions 1.2+ need to do these two points. Both locate don the top of the motherboard. If you feel daring enough. You wont even need to remove the motherboard smile.gif
Much easier. bridge the two points lsited bellow. Easy enough. there are no extra places to bridge.
user posted image
The two points are highlighted in red. Easy enough too do. once this is done you can rebuild the box smile.gif

*******************************************************

Step 4:
Flash the tsop.. But how??? unsure.gif Let me explain smile.gif
You will need a retail copy of mech assault and a program in your saved games files called Mech Eurasia.
You wil need to copy these saved games to the unmodded xbox somehow. This has been explained a number of times. So I will not explain this step. Maybe later I will ad it in. smile.gif
You can downlaod Mech Eurasia from the usual places. such as xbins or contact me by email. it's a pretty straight forward program. you will need to copy the 007 and the mech assault hacked save files to the xbox. Launch mech assault and goto campaighn then launch linux. and go threw. I have labeld it pretty well as well I have also included the latest bis to suit your needs.

for the V1.0 and 1.1 xbox's which are 1mb you will jsut go into system and flash.
for the v1.2+ you will need to goto system and launch Eurasia.
Let it to what it does. or select the required bios. Then let it run. the xbox will do a few things then power off.

Power it back on. and walla.

I do not have the capability to take images of the evo-x process. If someone could please take images of the steps to flash the bios and email me them blueinfinity@sasktel.net I will add them to this guide.

Thanks.
Please psot and problems/ideas/comments you have here. I will answer ASAP.

Well, I was going to rewrite an up to date tutorial on 007auf/raincoat tsop flashing, but this pretty much covers it. Well done.
lukano
Hey, just noticed that you run Fortunemods... that's in Moosejaw or something isn't it?
blueinfinity
lukano yes it's in moose jaw smile.gif

and thanks for the compliment. I am working on extending this tut over time to a full fledged everything you need to know guide smile.gif
lukano
Hey, don't suppose you've got an original of 007auf you'd want to sell to a guy in Saskatoon (aka; me) eh? tongue.gif

I'll also post up my guide, just as something to do. I've been compiling it over the past few weeks, and figure I may as well make use of the work. It's exclusive to 007auf/raincoat/tsop though.
blueinfinity
naw sorry never even played hte game.

i can check out eb game shere.. moose jaw is good for having needed games

launch your tut. good to have alternate methods. smile.gif
Blank
WOW! Very nice guide. It cleared up all the questions I would have asked. Thanks! smile.gif
blueinfinity
your welcome blank smile.gif
Perplexer
Great guide, man. It's nice to have ONE memory card save that will flash any version Xbox, and without needing to remember the commands to type in raincoat! beerchug.gif
blueinfinity
perp thanks ACTUALLY this is two lol
it has the 007 and evo-x

but when u launch the mech it gives u a link to launch a copy of raincoat. which is a self installer

i am not sure but i think if you only have 007 and you launch this it works also biggrin.gif
GenEriq
Are you sure the file is on xbins? I can't find it.

Thanks!

It's not there...I checked. unsure.gif
venturahighway
blueinfinity's file is just the mech assault part of:

Highway 007mech Flash Pack v1.0

he was the tester for that part but didn't have the finished package (he is listed in the credits).

it is on xbins and eurasia.nu

it flashes all versions with 007:AUF or Mech Assault.

Well I did my first ever (in 60 or so xboxes) Sharp TSOP... yes it is a pain but i dont really get why people bitch about it so much. But I have one question and one observation... Q: Must the wire from the VCC LPC point to the point above D4 (D5?) remain permanently, even after the flash? Any harm in leaving it there? O: There is no talk about soldering two wires to the top set of write enable points, when you have a sharp tsop, and then twisting them together post boot.

A@ron
blueinfinity
aaron unless u had a 1.0 or 1.1 with a sharp ud idn't need any wires

as for it.
if you needed it yes leave it. removing it would stp the person from flash upgrading smile.gif

ventura THANKS never kne wi was a middle man. make slife easier smile.gif
GenEriq
This worked great!
phrozenfeonix
about the wire, what if i soldered the other points, then just put the wire on a switch, then mounted that... let's say on the back. would that work for a write-protection switch? and also, i have a TV capture card, if someone could give me a brief guide, i could go through and take all the pics, or movies, you need, just let me know!!
Ben999_
cool guide
venturahighway
this sharp thread has a bit more to say about flashing sharp sharp tsops sharply.

blueinfinity

Thanx for the email,
BLUE YOUR RULE!!!!

Hi

I keep getting the same error 'manufaturers ID 09 device ID OO'. It seems that its a solder problem, but I used a multimeter and everything is just perfect. I tried the blue-infinity pack and I got this error (sounds like a solder problem... soldered it 5 times sad.gif):

raincoat Flasher 0.5 andy@warmcat.com (tsop version by robert@eurasia.nu)
Checking for raincoat.cfg...
(Unable to open raincoat.cfg, using internal list)

UNKNOWN DEVICE Read Only??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00
Try adding the device ID to raincoat.cfg

I soldered both top and bottom pts and I have a 1.2. My chip is a ST M29F002B...

Thx

Wak4
blueinfinity
hmmm replace the bios file in
Mech-by-blue\4d530017\62D648EBF155\bios\
with a 256k bios instead of the 1mb...

then flash using evox
wak4
Hi Blueinfinity

I didnt change the bios which was inside the pack... its already a 256 k

wak4
lookformeb
wak4

Try using Evox to flash. If it still tells you the same error, add these to your Evox.ini.

IF it stil says read only, your points aren't soldered correctly.
blueinfinity
no no your ev-x should be using a 1mb bios

and the eurasia should be using 256k.. put the 256 into where the 1mb is..
Corspegrinder99
instead of doing all of that shit why not just get a chip?
wak4
Hi

Um... Why should I use a 1mb bios if my xbox version is a 1.2 (which means a 256kb)... Sorry if this question is dumb, but I'd rather prefer not to make a door stop...

Thx

Wak4
blueinfinity
no. i said replace the 1mb file in that dir with a 256k one. then flash using evo-x

which will flash a 256k bios to your tsop.
wak4
But, in the pack, its already a 256 kb file...?!? (Mech-by-blue\Mech-by-blue\4541000d\000000000000)

wak i know that

i mean the other dir
read the read me file

put the 25k bios in
Mech-by-blue/4d530017/62D648EBF155/bios
smokeingit
hey blue... i have a great idea for your tut... how about you put the command on mech assult so it can flash the TSOP... you didnt put that in your tut... and newbies would be lost.

In this tutorial it says for v1.2+ to make two connections on the top of the mobo. On other tutorials I've read there is one connection on top and one on the bottom. Then on others it says to bridge two on top and one on the bottom. Which one is correct? Or will they all work? Which one should I follow? Thanks for any and all replies :-)

Both connections on top: this tutorial
One on top, one on bottom: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop.php
Two on top, one on bottom: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-images.php

you only need to use the one on the top. The other on the bottom is an alternate point for one of the top ones, i'm not sure which.
wak4
Hi

The lower one (the pic where theres is 2 spots circled by red) must be done. The upper one too but if you screw it, the bottom one is just the same... and I still havent been able to flash my tsop... *sigh*

Wak4

Alright, so wak4 you're saying I can solder the two top points and solder nothing underneath the board, correct?

Btw, I updated my original post, the link with 1 on top and 1 on bottom was wrong.
wak4
Hi

Yup... only the 2 on the top... if you are not sure, just use a multimeter... tongue.gif

Wak4
CARU
v1.3 just the top pints.
ihad to edit evo
Flash = 0xadb0,"Hynix - HY29F002",0x40000
thanx to LOUD for the edit
blueinfinity
why is this so had to grasp?

just follow my tut its worked allways for me and had no complaints
v1.2+ u MUST do both top points

and on 1.0 and 1.1 u need t do a top and a bototm point..

sigh..
motorhead460
YES,YES,YES Blue you are da man love.gif ,I have been pulling out my hair on my first 1.5 box with a winbond chip and you have just saved my butt.It worked great for me just like you said .Thanks a million man beerchug.gif

Which point on the diagram with the 3 points circled in red, is the A19 point. The numbers are hard to read and I don't want to just guess. If it's one of the ones circled in red, is it the one farthest to the left on the picture, in the middle, or farthest to the right?

Edit: Nevermind I found it...
HAL2001
Thanks Blue! This worked perfectly. My friends and I modded two xboxs (both 1.5) using your method. In one we soldered the two points together and in the other we used a conductive pen. The conductive pen worked like a charm, super fast and easy as hell. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks again!
Hoowahman
I have a few questions for flashing the tsop on all versions. Why cant you use Evox to flash everytime with a 256kb bios? Could I update the ini with this list http://www.xbins.org/iriez/tsop.txt?

Then it could flash every tsop and detect if its a 1MB or 256kb and will span the 256kb bios I supply correctly because Evox knows how to do that?

What is the problem in doing this? Just wondering.

Thanks
rastareaper
is it possible that future games could write data on the tsop while your not suspecting it?

edit: if the points are bridged
Hoowahman
no..its not possible because the tsop is suppose to be write protected anyway. Thats why you solder the bridges together. I suppose if they wanted to fight back modders with harm then they might do it?
